Friday Jan 29th, 2021: Raven’s Report Card; Bitcoin; Unfortunate Name

Friday Jan 29th, 2021: Raven’s Report Card; Bitcoin; Unfortunate Name

What do you think the #1 gift Mom’s want for Valentines Day is?  Here’s a couple hints; it costs nothing, and you don’t have to do anything to get it.  Can you guess what it is?

Have you ever gotten a robo-call about your car’s extended warranty?  Anna is sick of getting these calls, so she did some research to find out where they are coming from.  What she found out may surprise you!  (3:36)

Turning 30 is a big milestone, but if you do THIS in the middle of a quarantine, that’s all I need to know about you!  (7:35)

Every week, Raven’s wife Alicia calls in to the show and gives Raven a grade based on how he did as a husband!  This week, Alicia realized that Raven has been watching her on the ring cameras in their home while he’s at work!  Do you believe his reason why?  Find out his reason, and hear what grade he gets in the podcast!  (11:11)

What did you used to do that’s just not cool anymore?  Someone wrote “Wash Me” in Spanish on the back of Anna’s dirty car.  Who even does that nowadays?!?  Anna and Raven talk about what’s “not cool” anymore in 2021!  (15:02)

Does anyone REALLY understand Bitcoin?  Anna certainly doesn’t, so naturally she has an 8-year old on Youtube explain it to her!  (22:31)

Is there a better job out there than being a professional Chocolate Taster?  Jim St. John works for Hershey as a Master Chocolate Maker (also an awesome job), and Anna and Raven ask him exactly what it takes to go pro in the chocolate game!  (26:29)

Do you have an…unfortunate name?  Anna got a call from her local gym, asking her to sign up for a membership.  Pretty typical boring call, but when the woman on the phone said her name was THIS, Anna couldn’t focus on anything else!  (30:21)

Liam and Nancy were approached by their neighbor who lives across the street. He requested that Liam start to park his car further down the street because he’s afraid that when his wife or son will back out of their driveway, and crash directly into his car. Liam says it’s not his responsibility to teach his neighbors how to drive, just be careful. Why should he have to walk an extra thirty feet to his front door? His wife says it’s their neighbors, be neighborly and just do it. Whose side are you on?  (37:02)

Aly has a chance to win $1800!  All she has to do is beat Raven in pop culture trivia.  Is she up to the task, or will the jackpot continue to grow? (43:24)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Heroic Cow Saves Its Own Life

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Heroic Cow Saves Its Own Life

This is one for all the animal lovers out there. A story of determination, survival, and good luck.

Last year, a cow who was headed for a slaughterhouse escaped from a trailer in Massachusetts. For the next eight months she was on the run until someone eventually found her.  Her incredible escape and journey ended up saving her own life. The cow is now at an animal sanctuary in New Jersey where they are going to let her live out the rest of her life on a farm.

The happiest of endings!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did Wall Street Get its name from?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did Wall Street Get its name from?

With all the craziness going on in the stock market and on wall street lately (most of which I BARELY understand) I decided to make today’s mystery simple but Wall Street related. Where did the name Wall Street come from originally?

Yes, Wall Street is a reference to an actual wall. A wall that was built by Dutch settlers on the southern part of Manhattan Island in the 17th century. The Dutch had set up shop on the southern part of the island so they put up the wall to defend themselves against the British and pirates.

Very interesting.

Do Certain Jobs Make Someone “Un-dateable”?

Do Certain Jobs Make Someone “Un-dateable”?

Are there certain jobs that make someone “un-dateable”? Anna’s friend said it was lucky Anna was married, because nobody would want to date someone who talks about their personal life on the radio that much! Anna and Raven compare the most (and least) “date-able” jobs!

Thursday Jan 28th, 2021: Un-Dateable; Teen Slang; What Are You Addicted To?

How do you think people in other countries view America?  Anna and Raven go over a list of what other countries think are the best AND worst things about America!  Apparently, the rest of the world loves the Super Bowl, but hates racial inequality.  Makes sense, but you’ll never guess what they hate the most!

Are there certain jobs that make someone “un-dateable”?  Anna’s friend said it was lucky Anna was married, because nobody would want to date someone who talks about their personal life on the radio that much!  Anna and Raven compare the most (and least) “date-able” jobs!  (3:15)

It’s one thing to want a raise, but if you steal money from your job, especially THIS much money, that’s all I need to know about you! (3:13)

What’s your (legal) addiction?  Anna can’t get enough of Sandy’s Pita Chips, but what Raven is addicted to says a lot about his personality!  (10:51)

How do you and your significant other sit on the couch?  Do you cuddle in the corner?  Do you even sit on the same couch!?  Believe it or not, your answer says a lot about the state of your relationship!  Get the full story in the podcast… (22:13)

Are you up-to-date on all the new teen slang?  Raven thinks he knows all the hip new lingo, so Anna gives him a quiz on it!  Find out how he does, and learn which slang to watch out for, in the podcast!  (28:48)

What do you do if someone steals your laptop?  Anna and raven talk to Eric B. Cole, a cyber-security expert who has some great tips to avoid making a tough situation worse!  (32:47)

Stephanie’s father passed away last year, and her stepmother still uses his personal Facebook page to respond to people and to post things even though she has her own. Stephanie wants her to memorialize the page and stop utilizing it. It’s jarring when she sees an update from her deceased father. Her husband, Jacob, says she’s overreacting. She probably finds it comforting and it’s not her place to tell her stepmother what to do. Whose side are you on?  (36:47)

Raven is on a roll, and the jackpot for Can’t Beat Raven is up to $1,700!  Does Kim have what it takes to claim the prize?  (43:29)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 6th Grade Teacher Buys Bus To Take Kids On Virtual Field Trips During Remote Learning

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 6th Grade Teacher Buys Bus To Take Kids On Virtual Field Trips During Remote Learning

Remote learning has been tough on everyone. Students, parents, and even teachers. Some are coming up with creative ways to adapt.

Like this sixth-grade Science teacher in Massachusetts named John King. He couldn’t get fast enough internet at his home to do Zoom classes with his students. As a solution he decided to buy his own bus and now he’s been teaching from it while he goes on “virtual field trips” to different places around the state. He’s showed his students everything from dinosaur foot prints out in western Mass to the beach on cape cod where he taught them a lesson on the ocean!

Some of the kids are having a hard time with the remote learning so John has even made a few house calls during his travels on the bus to help some students out.

What a great story. I might have to find a way to take John’s class!
