TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Hotel Chain Goes Above And Beyond For 6-Year-Old’s Birthday

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Hotel Chain Goes Above And Beyond For 6-Year-Old’s Birthday

Hotels having been one of the hardest hit industries during covid, so it’s always great to see a story like this.

A kid in the U.K. wanted to celebrate his 6th birthday at his favorite hotel that he and his family usually always vacation to. Sadly he is high risk for covid and they can’t travel. So instead his parents did the next best thing and recreated one of the hotel rooms in their own house for him. The hotel chain heard about it and sent the family a bunch of brand swag for the room so it really felt real. They also gave the family a voucher for a free stay once the pandemic is over.

The photos are great, you can see them here.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do people get down on one knee to propose?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do people get down on one knee to propose?

We’ve all been part of a proposal in one way or another. Being proposed to, seeing someone else get engaged, or even being the one getting down on one knee to pop the big question. But why one knee?

The “getting down on one knee” tradition dates all the way back to medieval times in the days of knighthood and chivalry. Knights would traditionally get down on one knee out of respect and loyalty to their lord. If a gentlemen back then was proposing to his lady the courteous thing to do as he declared his love would be to show that same respect and get down on one knee.

We may not have knights in shining armor these days, but the tradition still continues! Hopefully it’s enough for the answer to be “Yes!”

Every Monday, We Give You Your Credit Due!

Every Monday, We Give You Your Credit Due!

Did you do something nice over the weekend, but didn’t get any credit?  Anna and Raven will give you the credit due! One caller lent her sister the truck, and instead of saying thank you, her sister did THIS instead!

Have you ever watched one of those “Trading Spouses” shows?  Anna asked her husband if he would like to have Raven as a roommate, and Raven asked his wife Alicia what it would be like to live with Anna.  Anna and Alicia would probably make great roommates if it wasn’t for this one SMALL detail!

It’s one thing to want your kids to look good in public, but if you dress your toddler like THIS, that’s all I need to know about you!  (3:47)

Feeling stressed out?  Let off some steam and belt out your favorite song!  Call Anna and Raven’s Sing-a-Long Line and leave them a message of you singing your favorite song!  Anna and Raven might play your message on the air.  (7:18)

Have you ever snuck in somewhere?  A concert?  Maybe a movie?  Raven is convinced that he could sneak into the Superbowl, and you won’t believe his “fool-proof” plan to pull it off!  (10:08)

Did you do something nice over the weekend, but didn’t get any credit?  Anna and Raven will give you the credit due!  One caller lent her sister the truck, and instead of saying thank you, her sister did THIS instead!  (21:35)

Do you have a trick for getting out tough stains?  Anna’s two-year-old has been doing a number on her beige couch, so she brought an expert in to help her out.  Zach is the official dry-cleaner for his royal highness Prince Charles (seriously!) and he has some tips for getting out those tough stains!  (24:56)

John and Claire’s 23-year-old daughter wants to move home and has asked if her boyfriend of just one year can move in too. Mom thinks it’s okay, they’re adults, they have the room in their home, and she misses her daughter especially after the past year with the pandemic. Dad thinks it’s just too awkward to have another strange man living with them…and with his daughter. It’s not that he’s naive and doesn’t know they already live together, it’s just that he’s worried if they break up or it doesn’t go well, then what? Whose side are you on?  (32:20)

Vicki has a chance at winning $1400!  Can she defeat Raven in pop culture trivia and claim the prize?  (38:37)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: The Fun Story Behind Bernie’s Mittens

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: The Fun Story Behind Bernie’s Mittens

At this point you’ve probably seen the Bernie Sanders photoshopped meme more than a few times in your feed. It may have jumped the shark already. But the story behind the mittens is actually pretty great.

They were gifted to him four years ago when he was in the primary leading up to the 2016 presidential election. They were made by a second-grade school teacher in Vermont named Jen Ellis who is a family friend of Bernie’s. Now that this photo meme of him wearing them at the inauguration has taken off Jen has been flooded with requests to buy the mittens. She’s received over 6,000 emails that crashed her gmail account. To the point that she tweeted to everyone that she doesn’t make them anymore.

What a random, crazy story that no one saw coming leading up to the Inauguration. Gotta love the internet.
