TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Celebrity Chef Uses His Restaurants To Give Free Food To First Responders

The last 12 months have been a rough one. There has been far too many “emergency” situations. Between the COVID pandemic, riots in cities over the summer, and the events at the Capitol in D.C. a few days ago. Luckily as Mr. Rodgers famously once said, ” look for the helpers, you will always find people who are helping”

That is the case with Celebrity chef José Andrés. He was one of the first people to use his various restaurants that he owns to give out free food when COVID hit.  Then with all the chaos at the Capitol this week, he stepped up again, handing out a bunch of free food to cops and first responders in D.C. who weren’t able to get food because of hte 6pm curfew that night.

Amazing work. Look for the helpers, indeed. always.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does some toothpaste have red and blue lines?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does some toothpaste have red and blue lines?

If you brushed your teeth this morning you might have noticed this. Some toothpaste have those red and blue lines? Are they just for show? Or do the mean something?

Back in the 1970s solid white toothpaste was just meant to clean the mouth. But more and more customers wanted it to freshen their breath too. So Aquafresh decided to add a blue stripe in theirs to signify that it could do both things, clean and freshen. Then once people started to care about their gum health more they added a third red line to show it now had plaque control as well.

Even though some toothpaste can do all three things with a solid white, a lot of them still keep the blue and red too because it sells more.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Group Of Kids Step Up To Help Restaurant Staff Who Was Robbed

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Group Of Kids Step Up To Help Restaurant Staff Who Was Robbed

Robbery is never good. Any time, any place. But ESPECIALLY during a pandemic when so many businesses and restaurants are struggling.

Some idiots in Minnesota recently stole an envelope from a local restaurant which had about $300 in tips inside belonging to the staff.  Here’s where the “good” comes in. A group of five kids in the town stepped up to help.  They had made some money over the summer by helping on their family’s farm.  So they decided to pool it together (about $200) and give the restaurant staff. How awesome is that?!

More of this in 2021 please. Oh, and stop robbing people.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does seeing food you like make your mouth water?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does seeing food you like make your mouth water?

You’ve felt that feeling before. You see, think, or smell a juicy burger or delicious slice of pizza and your mouth instantly starts watering. It might be happening to you right now just reading this. But why?

It’s all because of our reflex system which is essentially preparing our bodies for the food we are about to eat. Nerve signals are sent to our salivary glands to essentially start preparing saliva to assist with chewing, tasting and digestion of the food. Wow. Science! Our bodies are so cool.
