TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Trumbull Teenager Spreading Holiday Cheer With Free Gift Wrapping

The holiday season is always stressful but this year more than ever people are either burned out or just don’t have the time for things like gift wrapping.

Enter Trumbull teenager Sarah Wojtaszec. Sarah loves Christmas so much that she decided she would help out Santa this year by offering free gift wrapping for anyone who needs it.

Sarah told News 12 Connecticut,  “I really just wanted to help people out, I wanted to give back to the community. Wrapping is one of the really good things about Christmas, Just gives me a little extra joy in the holidays.

She has wrapped 32 presents so far and plans to do more if people need it. Some have even offered to pay her and she tells them to just donate the money instead. Saying, “It just makes me feel really good to see their smiling faces when they come to the door and pick their presents up.”

If you need some last minute gift wrapping you can reach out to Sarah Wojtasek at (203) 215-8167.

Thanks to News 12 for the fun story.

Good luck searching through all these flakes that fell last night here in Connecticut. There’s a whole lot of them.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: One Local Industry That Is BOOMING During The Pandemic

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: One Local Industry That Is BOOMING During The Pandemic

A lot of businesses are struggling this year because of the pandemic. But there are also a few that are thriving more than ever.

One of those industries is Christmas Tree Farms. Sales of Christmas trees are WAY up this year. A lot of it is first time buyers too. People who always had fake trees in the past opting for a real one this year. Which totally makes sense when you think about. People are looking for something to do, you can be outside, socially distant, spend time with the family. It’s a perfect way to spend a weekend during this holiday season.

The National Christmas Tree Association estimates that 25-30 million “real” Christmas trees have been sold so far in the U.S. Locally here in Connecticut places like Maple Row Farm and Fairview Tree Farm have been busier than ever.

MUNDANE MYSTERY: Why does snow look white?

We about to get walloped with a huge snow storm so today’s mystery is why does snow look white?  There’s actually a real scientific reason that snow is white. What happens is light scatters and bounces off the ice crystals in the snow. The reflected light has all the colors in it which when together looks white.

So when you’re sledding, shoveling, or playing in the snow this week you’ll know why it’s white.
