TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Waitress Studying To Be A Nurse Gets Big Surprise During Her Shift

With so many restaurants and their staff struggling it’s always great to hear a story like this.

This one waitress named Gianna DiAngelo who works in Pennsylvania was completely shocked Saturday when a group paid their bill for $206 and then left her a $5,000 tip!!! And the best part of it all… she’s currently studying to be a nurse. What a great story all around.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How do igloos stay warm inside without melting?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How do igloos stay warm inside without melting?

When you think about it igloos shouldn’t work. A little hut made out of ice and snow in a very cold place that stays warm? But they do! Here’s how

Igloos are built out of bricks of ice. Unlike solid ice, which is a poor insulator for heat, all the compressed snow has more air pockets, making it a perfect insulator. All the cool air in an igloo goes to the bottom part and stays there. This means the upper area of the igloo remains warm. The heat is generated from body heat of the humans inside the igloo itself. Sometimes a small fire is use for heat as well.

Mind blowing! Eskimo life is the best.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: First Trucks Carrying COVID-19 Vaccine Have Hit The Road

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: First Trucks Carrying COVID-19 Vaccine Have Hit The Road

Of all the “good” stories I’ve done this year, this one might be the most hopeful and inspiring.

The first trucks carrying the COVID-19 vaccine left a Pfizer plant in Michigan yesterday (12/13) and hit the road with a police escort.  The scene was nothing short of amazing… a reporter in Detroit captured it on video while onlookers cheered and clapped.

Locally here in Connecticut, the vaccine arrived this morning at Hartford Hospital. Doctors and healthcare workers there were some of the first to receive the shots. Including Dr. Ajay Kumar who became the first Hartford Healthcare employee to receive the vaccine.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do dogs have whiskers?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do dogs have whiskers?

One of the many mysteries of man’s best friend. Why do dogs have whiskers?

The whiskers on a dog are very different from all the other hair that is on their body. Besides them being long and stiff, the whisker hairs are also packed with nerves in the follicles that go deep into their skin. When one of their whiskers brushed up against something or touches it, like someone’s hand or their food/water dish, it sends sensory information to the dog’s brain to help figure out what’s in front of them. Think of it like fingertips on humans.

The next time you’re patting a dog this will absolutely be on your mind.
