TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: When The Grinch Isn’t Mean For Once

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: When The Grinch Isn’t Mean For Once

The Grinch isn’t always bad. This story is a perfect example of the grumpy Grinch actually being a source for good!

This guy in England accidentally ordered a giant inflatable Grinch decoration that was much bigger than he expected. It’s almost the size of his house. Click here to see it for yourself

It instantly became a tourist attraction in his town.  So he decided to start asking for donations when people come to see it. He has been giving all the money donated to charity. At this point he has raised over $21,000 for a hospice center that treated his dad before he died of COVID earlier this year.

This time… you’re not such a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we get ice cream headaches?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we get ice cream headaches?

It’s happened to all of us. That ice cream, milkshake, or cold treat looks so good that you just want to eat or drink it as fast as possible. Then we all pay the price when our head starts throbbing. But why does this happen?

When you eat or drink something one of the first things it touched in your mouth is the palate, or the “roof of your mouth”. When something very cold touches it in the center the cold temperature of the substance sets off alarms on the nerves that control the blood flow to you head. The response by the nerves is to make the blood vessels swell up, causing that dreaded sensation known as a “Brain Freeze”. The ironic part is that it’s not really affecting you brain at all. It’s just the blood vessels.

So next time you have that cold treat just take it slow.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: FedEx Driver Goes Above And Beyond To Make A Kid Happy

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: FedEx Driver Goes Above And Beyond To Make A Kid Happy

This story would be cool anytime, but especially this year with everything we’re going through and kids not having a lot to do when they’re not online doing school.

A FedEx driver in Indiana recently noticed an 11-year-old kid on one of the houses on his route playing basketball outside the house with an old, rusty basketball hoop that was broken and bent. So she decided to buy him a brand new hook and leave it for him the next time she went to the house as a surprise. When the boy’s mom found out what happened she was blown away and said he cried when he saw the new hoop.

Such a great story.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What exactly is a Sugar Plum?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What exactly is a Sugar Plum?

It’s that time of year, the only time of year, that you hear about Sugar Plums. From the Nutcracker to a new flavored drink at Dunkin’ this year. But what exactly is a Sugar Plum anyway?

As explained by The Atlantic:

The sugar plums English-speakers ate from the 17th to the 19th century contained mostly sugar and no plums. They were made by pouring liquid sugar over a seed (usually a cardamom or caraway seed) or almond, allowing it to harden, and repeating the process. This candy-making technique was called panning, and it created layers of hard sugar shells. The final product was roughly the size and shape of a plum, which is how it came to be associated with the real fruit.

So there’s not even plums involved at all! Who knew?! Just a delicious ball of candy sugar. How food and treats during the holidays should be. Yum.
