TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Here’s How Zoom Making Your Thanksgiving Better This Year

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Here’s How Zoom Making Your Thanksgiving Better This Year

I know, I know there’s A LOT of heated debate about Thanksgiving this year because of the pandemic we’re in. No matter what your plans are there is a good chance you’re going to want to zoom with some family members at some point right?

If you have a free zoom account like most of us you’ve noticed they have a 40 minute time limit on zoom calls. If you have a paid account for work or something there is usually not a limit. But most people have the free. In order to help families around the country this Thanksgiving Zoom has announced that as a thank you to their customers they will be waiving the 40 minute time limit on free accounts from midnight November 26 through 6am November 27.

Awesome. Thanks Zoom! My Nana thanks you too.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are the letters on a keyboard in a random order?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are the letters on a keyboard in a random order?

I thought of this one today when I was typing an email earlier. Why are the letters on a keyboard in a random order?

So the first keyboard ever invented was on the typewriter. Originally, the keys were arranged in alphabetical order which makes sense right? But the workers who were typing on them go so good at typing quickly that they would often break the typewriters. Which is hilarious. So the manufacturers of he keyboards decided to randomize the letters to slow them down and keep the machines lasting longer. Then no one ever decided to change it back even to this day with all the technology we have.

Something to think about next time you’re typing really fast.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Subway Singer Absolutely Nails Ed Sheeran Song Shocking Bystanders

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Subway Singer Absolutely Nails Ed Sheeran Song Shocking Bystanders

Today we have a Throwback Thursday feel good story. Think back to pre-pandemic when you were taking the subway either in New York or Boston. Sometimes you’d come across a performer or singer in the subway and throw them a couple bucks. But every once in a while you’d hear a voice that is absolutely amazing.

That’s what people witnessed when they saw Mike Yung singing Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” in NYC. Obviously this was before everyone was wearing masks everywhere…

What a voice. Crazy right? You might recognize Mike if you’re a fan of America’s Got Talent. He was a contestant on the show back in 2017.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is that drawer under your oven REALLY for?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is that drawer under your oven REALLY for?

With Thanksgiving a week from today you’re probably getting ready to use that oven a whole lot next Thursday. While you’re cooking this year you might ask yourself what that extra drawer under the oven is really for?

Most people just use it to store pans, cookie sheets, pizza stone (that’s what’s in mine!) but it’s not actually meant for that purpose at all. It was ordinally designed by oven manufacturers as a “warming drawer” to keep food warm until you were ready to serve it. Which actually would be VERY useful for Thanksgiving now that I think about it. So clear out those muffin tins and clean that drawer for next week to keep your sides warm while the turkey cooks all day.
