MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do ballpoint pens have a hole in the top of the cap?

You’ve seen it before when using a black or blue ballpoint pen. The little hole in the top of the pen cap. But why?

It’s actually for a very good reason that could save lives! The purpose of the hole is so in the event that someone accidently swallows the pen cap air can still flow through and the person won’t choke or lose their breathing. This can happen to anyone kids or adults. It can be avoided by not chewing on your pens which is a bad habit for a lot of people. But if it does happen, now you know what that little hole is for.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: New York Mexican Restaurant Double As Soup Kitchen During Pandemic To Help Others

Many restaurants and small businesses are going through tough times during the pandemic this year. Which makes this story even more touching.

A Mexican restaurant in the South Bronx, NY called La Morada has been all over the news lately, because they have also been operating as a soup kitchen during the pandemic. They have their usual paying customers, but also serve around 650 free meals a day to people who are out of work. Incredible.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is the purpose of the tab on a soda can?

If you drink a lot of soda or seltzer in cans, then you may have noticed there is a tab at the top of the can with a little hole in it. It’s not just to open the can. flipping the tab makes it a small straw holder.

I never knew this until today. I’m doing this every time now!
