Tell Me Something Good: Bidding War For A Cup Of Ice From Sonic Raises Thousands

Tell Me Something Good: Bidding War For A Cup Of Ice From Sonic Raises Thousands

I’ve only been to Sonic a handful of times in my life, but one thing I do remember is that they have unique ice. Different shape than all the other fast food places. Fans of Sonic already know how famous the “Sonic Ice” is. Which I guess is why one single cup of said ice was able to start a bidding war on eBay when Sonic put it up for auction. The whole idea was to raise money to go toward supplies for teachers.

Here’s the quote from their post:

“It’s not ‘just ice’ – it’s SONIC Ice! It’s cherished, cold and crunchable. Really, it’s America’s Hottest Ice,” said Lori Abou Habib, chief marketing officer for SONIC via a press release. “Many of our guests who live near a Drive-In can conveniently get SONIC Ice in every drink, or just order a cup of ice if they want. But for fans who may not live near a SONIC and may be craving SONIC’s Ice, here’s a way they can get some delivered straight to their door.”

The auction, which closes Sept. 20, was made to raise money for Sonic’s longtime nonprofit partner, DonorsChoose, which helps public school teachers get recourses for students who need them.

The auction ended yesterday (9/20/2020) and the winning bid was… wait for it… $11,211. Can you believe THAT?!

This story is great on so many levels. But mostly that it was all for a good cause for these teachers.

Now I’m really craving a Cherry Limeade with the famous ice.

Tell Me Something Good: 88-Year-Old Guy About To Complete His Mission To Walk Around The Earth

This story is all about motivation. Next time you’re struggling to find the power to run that extra mile, go for that early morning walk, or turn that Peleton knob up a few more clicks… just think of this guy.

Brad Hathaway is an 88-year-old man who lives in Massachusetts and is on a mission to walk the exact circumference of planet Earth. That’s righ, all 24,901 miles of it! Back in 1988 he started walking 3 miles a day because he was suffering some health problems. Since then he’s never stopped. If he stays on track he will hit his goal in just a few weeks on October 3rd.

Good luck Brad!
