Tell Me Something Good: Teenage Wiz Uses Spare Time Refurbishing Old Computers To Give Back To Kids

Tell Me Something Good: Teenage Wiz Uses Spare Time Refurbishing Old Computers To Give Back To Kids

Most people, especially kids, have had a lot more spare time during summer 2020 due to the pandemic. Some are using that time to take their natural skills and make a positive impact on their community.

Like this 15-year-old computer wiz in Jacksonville, Florida. He has been using his time to refurbish old computers and donate them to kids who don’t have one.  His name is Chris Kilpatrick, and he’s done about 20 machines so far.  They’re all going to kids involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.  It started out as an idea he got while doing his summer internship with a company that takes old electronics and recycles them, or sells the parts.  Which he saw as an opportunity to help people during these crazy times we’re living in.

Well done, Chris. Such a cool idea that’s making a huge difference for so many kids.

Tell Me Something Good: Donation Only Restaurant Making A Positive Impact On Their Town

Money isn’t everything. As much as the world would make us think that’s the case. This story is a perfect example of how you can make a positive impact and help people without a dime every being exchanged.

This couple down in Alabama own a restaurant called Drexell & Honeybee’s.  It has become a very popular place during the pandemic because of it’s donation-based strategy.  Anyone can just walk up and get food to go, even if they don’t have any money.  Everything they make comes from an optional donation box.

Here’s owner Lisa Thomas-McMillan talking about how she and her husband Freddie like to do business…

Love this idea so much! We need more places like Drexell & Honeybee’s in our lives.
