TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: This teacher will inspire you to get off the couch

If you’ve been looking for some motivation to starting running, working out, or just getting into a health habit I have the perfect story for you.

Back in 2020 when the pandemic started this 79-year-old teacher in Oklahoma began running a 5K every day She has now reached the point where it’s been over 1,000 days in a row! Can you imagine the shape she is in?

She says she only wanted to try it for a week at first. But after that it just became a habit and she kept going. Incredible.

See, you can do it too! All about getting off the couch and creating that habit or routine.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is the shortest Oscar’s speech ever?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is the shortest Oscar’s speech ever?

This Sunday night is the 95th Academy Awards. We’re all hoping that this year’s show will clock in under the 3 hour mark, but I don’t have a lot of confidence. Mostly because of the long speeches. You’ve seen it before… person wins, talks forever thanking everyone they know until the “wrap it up music plays”.

But who has done it right? What has been the shortest Oscars speech ever?

That would be Rita Moreno who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in West Side Story back in 1962. Got up on stage and her speech was no more than 13 seconds saying, “I can’t believe it!  Good Lord!  I leave you with that.”  Here’s video of it.

More of this on Sunday night please!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with the Final Jeopardy Theme Music?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with the Final Jeopardy Theme Music?

You’ve heard the song millions of times. The Final Jeopardy music that plays when the contestants are writing their final answers. You’ve also probably heard it at various sporting events when teams take time-outs. OR any event that involves some sort of “waiting”. It’s iconic. But where did it come from?

The creator of Jeopardy, Merv Griffin, originally wrote the “Final Jeopardy” theme as a lullaby for his son, and called it “A Time for Tony”.  Which sort of makes sense. I can hear how it would make you sleepy. He then decided to use it for the show as the music for the final question.

Ever since then he has made more than $70 million in royalties from it. Unreal.
