If you’re braving the crowds and the rain to head into Times Square tomorrow for New Years Eve there is something really neat about the confetti that will be dropping at midnight.
All the confetti being used has thousands of people’s wishes written on them. This was first started back in 2015 when the idea of “wishfetti” became a part of the New Year’s Eve tradition.
All different people write their wishes for the new year and submit them to the Wish Wall in Times Square or you can do it online too. Then all of those wishes are printed and turned into the confetti that falls over the crowd at midnight in Times Square. How cool is that?!

A lot of people will be heading into NYC for New Year’s Eve tomorrow to see the ball drop in Times Square. But before they had the ball the celebration was a bit different.
They used to use fireworks to celebrate the new year, which to be honest seems dangerous in the middle of a big city. Eventually they realized this and banned but the firework displays because the burning embers were falling on the crowd. Probably a smart move.
In 1907 they came up with the idea of a giant ball being lowered on a flagpole because it sounded much safer. It’s been that way ever since.

There is a new creative pilot program that launched in 4 different states which solves a few problems. First, getting rid of big unrecyclable plastics like computers, batteries, and big rubber items like tires. While also making our roads better for the future.
They taking those unrecyclable items and grinding them down into a fine mixture that can be used to pave roads. A great way to reuse the items and possibly even make the roads more durable.. Missouri, Pennsylvania, Virginia, California, and Hawaii are all on board and it could be coming to more states soon.
Brilliant.

For anyone who has young kids or ever has, you probably already know about this one. But for any new parents out there or if you don’t have kids prepare for your mind to be blown.
You know the little triangle flaps on the left and right side of a juice box? They actually serve a functional purpose. They’re meant to pull apart from the side of the box and used as handles. That way you won’t spill all the juice out of the straw by squeezing the middle.
