TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A citizen Santa Claus saves the day for a lot of people expecting packages

Nothing worse that ordering a gift for someone this time of year and then never receiving the package. This guy in Ohio saved a lot of people that headache recently when he became a good Samaritan Santa Claus.

He noticed a bunch of FedEx packages on the side of the highway after a delivery driver had dumped them there for some reason. He decided to do the right thing and help the people out by hand delivering every package based on the address on the label.

Still now word on why the packages were dumped, but FedEx says they’re investigating.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How are Candy Canes made into that shape?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How are Candy Canes made into that shape?

December 1st. It’s candy cane season. One of the biggest mysteries of the holiday season. How do they get the candy canes into that shape?

In the candy factories where they are made there are automated machines which mix and pull massive wads of red and white candy before rolling candy logs into thin ropes, there is then a special machine which wraps the plastic around each one, then shapes the cane while it’s still pliable. That signature curve is done at the very end after they’re packaged.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Long Island Police Officer Delivers 5th baby in five years

Sometimes as a police officer you are asked to do a little bit more than the job requires. Like delivering a baby. And in the case of this Suffolk Country officer on Long Island, it’s the FIFTH time you’ve done it!

Last weekend a woman on Long Island gave birth in her living room. One of the officers who responded was Sgt. Jon-Erik Negron. This was his fifth time in five years delivering a baby. It’s now earned him the nickname the “Baby Whisperer”.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is New Haven Pizza pronounced “AH-BEETZ”?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is New Haven Pizza pronounced “AH-BEETZ”?

As a love of all things pizza I’m lucky to live right next to the pizza capitol of the world, New Haven. You may have noticed that a lot of the famous places (Pepe’s, Sally’s, Modern) all have “Apizza” on their name which locals know is produced “AH-BEETZ”. But why?

In Italy where pizza first started a lot of the pizzerias used “La Pizza” in their name. Back in the early 1900s when Italian immigrants came to the United States and started opening pizza places they dropped the L to make it flow better. It then because Apizza, or AH-BEETZ!.
