TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Little League Softball World Series is extra special for one 11-Year-Old girl from Milford

About a week ago the Milford Little League Softball locked in their trip to the Little League Softball World Series which is taking place next weekend Greenville, N.C. The whole experience is awesome of all the kids but it’s extra special for the family of 11-year-old Riley Fagan-Davis.

That’s because her mother, Donna Fagan, is one of the team’s coaches. Donna herself played college softball at UConn almost 29 years ago. The season that she was junior for the Huskies they advanced to play in the 1993 College Softball World Series in Oklahoma City. They didn’t end up winning it all, but Donna says it was an unforgettable experience for her. I’m sure it will be the same for Riley too.

Go MILFORD!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What officially makes it a heat wave?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What officially makes it a heat wave?

If you haven’t noticed that it’s really hot out lately you’ve probably been locked inside with the AC cranked. Smart.

We are at the start of a potential heat wave in Connecticut. But what officially makes it a heat wave?

According to most meteorologists and national weather services a heat wave is defined as a period of unusually hot weather that typically lasts two or more days. The big factor that makes it a heat wave is the temps being above the normal average for that time of year.

So for August this is well above the average as we are in the 90s in most places. It will probably stay that way through the weekend.

When you think of a “cheat meal,” what comes to mind?  Most people think of a cheeseburger, chocolate, maybe a pizza, but for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson it involves all of that and more!  (:30)

Anna has three crazy news stories and Raven is going to pick one to get the details on!  Today his options are; a man who jumped out of a plane with no parachute, a wrongful eviction, and a man who got lost in a storm drain!  (3:46)

Did your parents ever force you to do anything that you hated as a kid?  Anna has been making her older daughter take golf lessons, but that’s not nearly as bad as what her own parents made her do!  (7:13)

If you go to an “all you can eat” restaurant, you should be able to eat as much as you want, and if the waiter gives you any attitude that’s all I need to know about them!  (18:08)

What would you change about flying on a plane?  The FAA is doing a months long survey of the general public to determine what they need to change about the flying experience, but Anna and Raven are pretty sure most people’s answers will be the same…  (22:00)

Have you ever fought the law and lost? Anna and Raven tried to fight a ticket once and got thoroughly embarrassed in the courtroom!  (29:50)

Denise and Tim are getting married. Denise is an Instagram influencer and has been offered some endorsement opportunities at her wedding. Tim thinks this is tacky and doesn’t want to worry about posting pictures on their wedding day holding products. Denise says it’ll help curb costs and it’s no big deal. What do you think?  (36:35)

Christine has got a shot at $900!  Can she beat Raven in pop culture trivia or will the jackpot continue to rise?  (45:06)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Mother-Daughter Duo Make History In The Skies

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Mother-Daughter Duo Make History In The Skies

Whatever your parents did for a living when you were younger, maybe you followed in their footsteps and took that career path. Or maybe they owned a family business that you worked at and took over. This happened a lot. But not always up in the air with pilots. Especially women pilots.

Southwest Airlines just had the first ever mother-daughter co-pilot team on one of their flights last month.  Captain Holly Petitt, the Mom, had been flying for years. Then last weekend for the first time her daughter Keely Petitt joined her in the cockpit for a flight from Denver to St. Louis.  Keely says she always knew she wanted to do what her mom does since she was a kid.

Such a cool moment for them! You go, girls.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is it called a Caesar Salad?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is it called a Caesar Salad?

A lot of people assume that the caesar salad was inspired by Julius Caesar in Rome. But that isn’t true at all. It was actually named after the man who invented the salad in 1924, and Italian-American restaurant owner named Caesar Cardini

It wasn’t even created in Italy! It was Tijuana, Mexico. Cardini, who lived in California, moved Mexico to get his restaurants away from the prohibition rules which was happening at the time. He ended up coming up with the simple idea for the salad during a Fourth of July dinner rush in 1924. He had to use the only ingredients he had left in the kitchen, which we now know as the Caesar Salad.
