TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Little League Softball World Series is extra special for one 11-Year-Old girl from Milford

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Little League Softball World Series is extra special for one 11-Year-Old girl from Milford

About a week ago the Milford Little League Softball locked in their trip to the Little League Softball World Series which is taking place next weekend Greenville, N.C. The whole experience is awesome of all the kids but it’s extra special for the family of 11-year-old Riley Fagan-Davis.

That’s because her mother, Donna Fagan, is one of the team’s coaches. Donna herself played college softball at UConn almost 29 years ago. The season that she was junior for the Huskies they advanced to play in the 1993 College Softball World Series in Oklahoma City. They didn’t end up winning it all, but Donna says it was an unforgettable experience for her. I’m sure it will be the same for Riley too.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What officially makes it a heat wave?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What officially makes it a heat wave?

If you haven’t noticed that it’s really hot out lately you’ve probably been locked inside with the AC cranked. Smart.

We are at the start of a potential heat wave in Connecticut. But what officially makes it a heat wave?

According to most meteorologists and national weather services a heat wave is defined as a period of unusually hot weather that typically lasts two or more days. The big factor that makes it a heat wave is the temps being above the normal average for that time of year.

So for August this is well above the average as we are in the 90s in most places. It will probably stay that way through the weekend.
