Congrats to all the Grammy winners last night. Olivia Rodrigo and Silk Sonic both took home multiple awards. But why are they called the “Grammys” anyway?
It goes back to the first Grammy Awards in 1959. The trophy they made resembled a gold plated gramophone, also known as a photograph or record player. It’s still that shape to this day. The word “Grammy” was a tribute to the name of the gramophone which had a massive impact on music at the time.

Instead, let’s go back in April Fools history. According to second hand stories over the years the first ever prank that was pulled happened in the 1500s in Europe. The most popular trick was to tape a paper fish to someone’s back and let them walk around all day with it without them knowing. I have no idea why this is funny… but apparently people still do it to this day!
