A 99-year-old World War II Veteran named Sam Baker has recently become an author writing children’s books! It had always been something he wanted to do so he wrote two books for kids that are out now. The latest is called “Oscar the Mouse”. He also has a third new book coming out later this year.

See! It’s never too late. So no matter how old you are… time to start that new venture you’ve been putting off.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who invented the pizza box?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who invented the pizza box?

New Haven is considered by many as the birthplace of American pizza. Back in the early 20th century pizza was always delivered. It started to become really popular in the 1910s. People would buy it on the street and deliver it to factories and famer’s markets.

Frank Pepe in New Haven is credited as the inventor of the first  cardboard pizza boxes to make the deliveries a little easier. He would package them in cardboard boxes from The National Folding Box Company located locally near the pizzeria.

Next time you order a pizza that’s delivered nice and hot to your door you can thank Mr. Pepe.

Delicious.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A world record that may never be broken again

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A world record that may never be broken again

I love a good Guinness World Record story and this one is a doozy.

Four siblings who live in the midwest just broke the record for highest combined age. Their ages are between 93 the youngest, all the way to 100 which is the oldest. All are still alive making their combined age a record setting 384!

This will certainly be a tough one to beat. But maybe someone will do it one day. You never know.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who took the first selfie?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who took the first selfie?

Selfies have become such a huge part of our culture since the invention of smart phones but who took the first one?! A lot of people say Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian… when it fact it was someone WAY before those two were even born.

Back in 1839 there was a guy in Philadelphia named Robert Cornelius who accidently took a self-portrait of himself while he was experimenting with the invention of one of the first camera models. This is technically the first selfie ever taken.

So if anyone ever tries to argue with you on this you can drop that knowledge on them.
