TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Southport resident saves a nearby house in the most unique way ever

This week a very historic house in Southport was set to me demolished when a neighbor swooped in to save the day.

John Koren who lives a few houses down the road heard that the home was going to be destroyed. Since he had been in the market to build a guest house anyway he decided to save himself the trouble of all the contruction and just move THIS HOUSE to HIS property.

Sounds crazy, but after building a giant steel track and moving it little by little for a few days they got it done. Impressive!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is the difference between Frosting and Icing?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is the difference between Frosting and Icing?

Maybe you are still snacking on a few leftover cupcakes from Valentine’s Day and this thought crossed your mind. What is the difference between frosting and icing? Not a whole lot actually, but there are subtle differences.

Frosting is generally thicker and fluffier than icing. Icing rends to be shiny and thin making it harder to spread across a big cake like frosting. Icing it better spooned or drizzled on baked goods. Icing also has a sugar base whereas frosting is usually buttercream and sweeter. Frosting is better for coloring too.

Yum. Now I want a cupcake.

Friday February 18, 2022: Time You Took A Bribe; Raven’s Report Card; Screen Time Tips

Friday February 18, 2022: Time You Took A Bribe; Raven’s Report Card; Screen Time Tips

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up and Anna is getting festive!  But if you’re planning on making Corned Beef this year, make sure you don’t make the same mistake she did…  (:30)

Every Friday, Raven’s wife Alicia calls in to give Raven a grade on how he did as a husband that week!  This week, on-going drama over a washer/dryer installation is threatening Raven’s chances at a passing grade!  (3:18)

Have you ever offered someone a bride?  Have you ever accepted a bribe?  Raven got into an awkward situation when the guy installing his washer/dryer tried to get a little extra cash on the side!  (7:16)

You’re an adult.  You can drink whatever you want, whenever you want. So if you’re having an inner struggle between Margarita Friday and National Wine Day, that’s all I need to know about you!  (14:28)

Is screen time good or bad for kids?  Over the last few years, it seems like the debate on screen time has shifted.  Anna and Raven decided to speak to Pediatrician Jason Nagata to get the final verdict on how helpful/harmful screen time really is.  (17:59)

What do you do when you see someone fall?  Rams QB Matt Stafford witnessed a fall during a Super Bowl celebration and his reaction has been going viral!  (21:32)

As a former cheerleader herself, Anna has been obsessed with the new docu-series Cheer!  Today she gets a chance to talk to one of the stars of the series, Coach Monica Aldama!  (25:30)

It’s time for Mommy’s Margarita Friday!  Moms (and Dads) share all the crazy things that their kids have put them through this week that have definitely earned them a margarita!  (29:13)

Can you think like a stranger?  Anna and Raven want to buy your groceries this week and all you have to do to win is answer 5 crazy questions!  (33:13)

Jane allowed her 11-year-old son to buy $400 Yeezys because he used his own Christmas/Birthday money. He had $300 and she contributed $100 because she would have had to buy him new sneakers anyway. Her husband, Henry, is furious. $400 for sneakers is ridiculous he says, and their son will grow out of them in six months! Jane argues it’s his money, he can choose what he wants to do with it.  What would you do?  (36:28)

Teresa thinks she can take down Raven in pop culture trivia!  Can she succeed and win the $1300 jackpot?  (46:26)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Student project pays off 2 years later

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Student project pays off 2 years later

I love creative student projects like this. Makes me want to go back to middle school.

A middle school class in New Hampshire launched a small 6-foot boat into the ocean back in 2020. Now, about 460 days later they have learned that the boat made it all the way to Norway! It sailed 8,300 miles and was covered in barnacles when it was found on shore. They had loaded the boat with photos, fall leaves, acorns, state quarters, and even attached a GPS tracker to it.

How cool is that?!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Are the gold medals in the Winter Olympics pure gold?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Are the gold medals in the Winter Olympics pure gold?

Winter Olympics still going on over in Beijing and I was wondering last night when Canada beat us in Ice Hockey… are those gold medals even pure gold? The answer is NO! Kind of…

According to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), all gold and silver medals are required to be at least 92.5 percent SILVER in them. The gold in gold medals is in the plating on the outside surface of the medal and must consist of at least 6 grams of pure gold, but the entire thing isn’t all gold.

So sure, still cool to win gold. But that’s like getting a hollow chocolate bunny at Easter.
