It’s winter which is the time for fun winter sports. Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and more. But not everyone has the opportunity to grow up doing these things. Emily Kelting hopes she can change that for a lot of kids in Fairfield County. She is relaunching a program called Ice Skating Is For Everyone.
She started the program back in 2019 but over the last few years during the pandemic it had been put on hold. This past Saturday they started it back up at the SoNo Ice House in Norwalk. Kelting is actually a former professional figure skater and had other former hockey players and pro skaters helping out by being instructors. The program serves about 400 underserved children in the Norwalk and Stamford area.
Who knows… maybe we will be watching one of these kids in the Winter Olympics one year.

The early days of the internet feels like it was 100 years ago when in reality it was only 20 or so years back when we were all logging on to AOL with those obnoxious dial tones.
But to people STILL use the dial-up internet now… in 2022?! Apparently yes. The amount of people who are still using AOL’s dial-up service to use the internet is in the “low thousands”.
You have to imagine that number will get down to zero really soon. Unless there is just one person who refuses to give it up for the nostalgia. Which I respect.

You may have seen R.O.C. listed in the medal count and when watching the events. Everyone is confused. But it’s Russia. This same confusion just happened during the Summer Olympics last year. Russia got banned for doping, so all the Russian athletes are now competing under the banner, “Russian Olympic Committee” Instead of the actual country.
