TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Norwalk woman is helping kids get on the ice

It’s winter which is the time for fun winter sports. Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and more. But not everyone has the opportunity to grow up doing these things. Emily Kelting hopes she can change that for a lot of kids in Fairfield County. She is relaunching a program called Ice Skating Is For Everyone.

She started the program back in 2019 but over the last few years during the pandemic it had been put on hold. This past Saturday they started it back up at the SoNo Ice House in Norwalk. Kelting is actually a former professional figure skater and had other former hockey players and pro skaters helping out by being instructors. The program serves about 400 underserved children in the Norwalk and Stamford area.

Who knows… maybe we will be watching one of these kids in the Winter Olympics one year.
