Tuesday October 26, 2021: Your Food Weakness; Superstition; Ouija Boards

A viral photo has been going around, and it’s got Anna thinking.  How can something that is considered so beautiful also seem so gross in the wrong context?  (:30)

We currently live in the golden age of television, which is why Anna can’t understand why Raven watches so much bad TV!  (2:52)

Embarrassing your kids can be funny, but if you do THIS at school drop off to your 12 year-old, that’s all I need to know about you!  (5:56)

What’s your food weakness?  Some foods are just impossible to say not to, and Anna’s involves licking a pint glass! (8:52)

Have you ever used a Ouija board?  Barry Pirro is a paranormal investigator and he’s got some insight into the history of Ouija boards, including the surprising power they might have over your plants!  (16:31)

Eric smokes in his car when he commutes to work.  His wife, Zoey, hates that when the children come home after school, they smell like smoke from being in his car. Eric says he doesn’t smoke in the house, and he doesn’t smoke in the car when they’re with him, what’s the big deal if he smokes in the car when he’s alone? Whose side are you on?  (37:09)

Christine thinks she got what it takes to beat Raven in pop culture trivia!  Can she succeed and win the $100 jackpot?  (42:58)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Finding love in a pandemic

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Finding love in a pandemic

Throughout this awful pandemic there has been some terrible stories and a few brighter feel good ones sprinkled in. Like this couple down in Georgia who met at the start of the pandemic back in 2020 both working as ER Nurses.

The two started dating, eventually fell in love, and just recently got engaged! How exciting is that?!

The proposal sounds like something out of The Resident, Grey’s Anatomy, or any of these hospital shows. He proposed to her on the helipad at the hospital where they work. She thought she was wheeling a stretcher out to get a patient who had been airlifted, only to see her now fiancĂ© jump out of the helicopter. He dropped down on one knee, popped the question, and she said YES!

This will definitely be a story they will be telling their whole married lives.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where does the phrase “the proof is in the pudding” come from?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where does the phrase “the proof is in the pudding” come from?

I heard someone say this the other day and thought it would make a good Mundane Mystery for today.

The expression itself means trying or testing something out yourself is the only way to know if it’s good or not. The Oxford Dictionary says that the phrase was first used back in early 14th century where people would test actual pudding before royalty to find out if it was good enough for them to eat.
