TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Website that uses used RVs to help families of natural disasters

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Website that uses used RVs to help families of natural disasters

With so many people affected by hurricanes, wildfires, and more lately it’s great to see stories like this of people helping out.

There is a website called EmergencyRV.org which gives donated RVs to people who’ve lost their homes to natural disasters. In just three years, they’ve already given away about 100 RVs to wildfire victims. One of them is a volunteer firefighter who just lost his own home in August.

Such a great idea to help people in need.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where does the phrase “tie the knot” come from when it comes to marriage?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where does the phrase “tie the knot” come from when it comes to marriage?

We are entering fall wedding season which means you’ve probably seen and heard the term “tie the knot” more than a few times lately. But where does it come from and what does it even mean?

It started as a wedding tradition known as the handfasting ceremony. It was actually an ancient Celtic practice way back in medieval era. It is what it sounds like… literally binding the couples wrists together during the ceremony by tying knots of cloth or rope around their hands. This would be a physical display of the two people becoming one. Make sense!

I wonder if anyone ever does this now as a throwback to the old days?
