MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we say “O’Clock”?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we say “O’Clock”?

The idea of saying “o’clock” sounds kind of Irish in a way. We’ve always just said it after announcing the time but when did it start? It goes back to simpler times when it was rare to find an actual clock to see the time. People would use other means to tell time like a sundial or just by guessing. This was mostly during the 13th through 17th centuries. If they happened to have a real clock they would let you know by saying “It’s four of the clock.”  Which proved you got the time from a clock so it was accurate. That eventually just became shortened to “o’clock” and we’ve used it ever since.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Quick thinking McDonalds Manager comes to the rescue in the drive-thru

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Quick thinking McDonalds Manager comes to the rescue in the drive-thru

You just never know when you’re going to need someone’s quick thinking help to potentially save your life. Sometimes it happens at a McDonalds of all places.

This happened in Detroit recently when a McDonalds manager saved a guy who had extremely low blood sugar levels. The man and his wife were driving when his wife realized he was going into diabetic shock. She pulled into the McDonalds and went straight for the drive-thru to ask for some Orange Juice. The manager on duty, James Dalpiaz has an aunt who is diabetic so he knew exactly what to do. He grabbed the OJ and put some extra sugar in it. Then sprinted out to the car to give it to the guy. Luckily the man’s level evened out and he is okay.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why doesn’t honey have an expiration date?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why doesn’t honey have an expiration date?

If you’re like me you have had the same bear shaped bottle of honey in your pantry for as long as you can remember. Is there a time it needs to be tosses? Maybe not?

There is actually no expiration date on honey, simple because it never goes bad. It’s the only food that can actually last forever.

So if we find ourselves in a zombie apocalypse or some sort of power outage blackout… stock up on that honey.
