TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Sky diver’s parachutes get tangled in mid-air, hug their way to safety

Sky diving has always terrified me. I’ve never had the urge like some people do to jump out of a plane. And stories like this one are why.

Two police officers were doing a sky diving drill in Thailand when two of their parachutes got tangled on the way down. The procedure for this and what they were instructed to do is to hug each other tightly in mid-air until you safely get to the ground. Terrifying but it worked and they both landed safely.

The video is incredible…

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How many apples does it take to make apple cider?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How many apples does it take to make apple cider?

The weather is supposed to be perfect this weekend for apple picking. So today’s mystery is for if you’re curious about making your own apple cider. How many apples does it take?

To make 1 gallon of cider you need 36 apples. So make sure to count them out when you pick them. If you’re wondering which variety of apple to use… For sweeter cider, you want Gala, Fuji, Cortland, Golden Delicious, or Red Delicious apples. For a more acidic, tart flavor, go with Pink Lady, Braeburn, Jonathan, or McIntosh.

If you’re going to make an apple pie. For a 9 inch crust you need about 2 pounds of apples. So plan accordingly. Happy picking!

Raven’s Pet Pals – Meet Duncan!

Raven’s Pet Pals – Meet Duncan!

Meet Duncan, a sweet seven-year-old, 53 lb. lab/collie/pit mix with the cutest ears! He has had a very rough few months…his owners passed away and Duncan, along with six other dogs, were left to the remaining family members. Unfortunately, they neglected and abandoned the dogs in the home, where they were found dehydrated and starving, before being seized by animal control. Despite all Duncan has been through, this boy is a complete love!

This affectionate sweetheart enjoys nothing more than being with his people. He is friendly with everyone he meets and is always up for an adventure – he does great riding in the car too. Belly rubs and pets are his absolute favorite. Duncan has a gentle soul with a very “go with the flow” attitude. He’s happy to play a game of fetch, but also content just hanging out on the couch.

He does great with other pups, cats, and would be fine with children of all ages, Duncan is a very good pup who walks great on leash and is both house and craterained. He’d prefer a house with a fenced yard to enjoy.

Duncan’s adoption fee is $350 and he is fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered. While in South Carolina, he had heart worm but has since gone through the completion of his treatment and is all better now. If you are interested in adopting this handsome boy, please complete the application at form.jotform.com/200883908893166. TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Police officers creative idea to save toddler stuck in balcony

If you are a parent of a toddler you’ve most likely had a situation where they’ve gotten stuck somewhere. This is what happened to this 3 year old girl in Boulder, CO this week. She managed to get her head stuck between the rungs of a balcony behind their house.

The police were called and they creatively used a battering ram to pry the bars apart and get her out safely. The video is amazing and her thanking the police is adorable.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does a Rubik’s Cube have those six colors?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does a Rubik’s Cube have those six colors?

I’ve never solved a Rubik’s Cube. I feel like I should make that a goal of mine this fall. Either way, today’s mystery is why did the creator of the Rubik’s Cube choose those six colors?

According to an interview with the inventor Rubik Ernõ in 2014 he said he chose to have six colors on the face of the sides so it made more sense for the person to try and solve the puzzle. If it was one color there would be no way to do it.

The colors he chose red, blue, yellow, green, orange and white were basic colors that everyone could recognize and didn’t require any explanation no matter who was doing the cube.

Now I’m on a mission to solve one.
