The weather is supposed to be perfect this weekend for apple picking. So today’s mystery is for if you’re curious about making your own apple cider. How many apples does it take?

To make 1 gallon of cider you need 36 apples. So make sure to count them out when you pick them. If you’re wondering which variety of apple to use… For sweeter cider, you want Gala, Fuji, Cortland, Golden Delicious, or Red Delicious apples. For a more acidic, tart flavor, go with Pink Lady, Braeburn, Jonathan, or McIntosh.

If you’re going to make an apple pie. For a 9 inch crust you need about 2 pounds of apples. So plan accordingly. Happy picking!
