It’s great to have an excuse to cancel plans at the last minute and Anna is wondering if it’s socially acceptable to use THIS as an excuse to bail on prior commitments! (:30)

Anna has got three crazy news stories, and Raven is gonna pick one of them to do in detail on!  IT’s time to play Raven Picks ‘Em, and the subject of one of these stories might just be Raven’s spirit animal!  (2:44)

Celebrating yourself is a good thing to do, but if you have to bring your own birthday cake to a party, that’s all I need to know about you! (6:14)

It’s the Producer Olympics!  While the greatest athletes in the world compete in Tokyo, Producer Jon and Producer Sean compete to find the craziest stunt to perform on the air!  (10:04)

What’s your unpacking protocol?  Anna was searching for her favorite jeans and was convinced that she lost them, until she realized that the answer was right in front of her the entire time!  (17:13)

Have you ever owned an exotic pet?  Anna’s best friend Danielle, despite Anna’s protestations, has welcomed a new member of her family that would look at home on an episode of Animal Planet!  (27:33)

The Tokyo Olympics aren’t just great, they’re Japan-Tastic!  Equestrian Dressage has quickly become one of Anna and Raven’s favorite events, but an famous piece of Japanese culture has been sabotaging some of the participating athletes!  (35:26)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Police Officer responds to noise complaint in most hilarious way ever

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Police Officer responds to noise complaint in most hilarious way ever

Whenever police are called to break up a house party they never know what they’re walking into. They have to be prepared for ANYTHING… literally anything.

Like this one officer in New Jersey who showed up to a backyard after getting multiple noise complaints to find a group of teenagers performing a full on live concert in the yard. He told them to stop… but made a deal with the band. He said they could play one more song if they let HIM sit in on drums for it. They agreed and ended up playing Green Day’s “Basket Case” with him.

Here’s the video of it… it’s pretty fun.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Do Olympic coaches get medals too?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Do Olympic coaches get medals too?

I started wondering this after seeing Xander Schauffele win gold for the U.S. in golf last week. Did his caddie get a medal too? He did not. But that made me wonder do any coaches in the Olympics get medals or ANYTHING?

So Olympic coaches do not get official medals from the International Olympic Committee like the athletes do. For coaches it’s really all about the bragging rights and adding to their legacy how they’ve coached winning Olympians.

There have been a few rare exceptions… for example the head coach of the famous “Miracle on Ice” team for U.S. men’s hockey team got a gold medal after that win in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Also, some countries pay their athletes and coaches money for winning which is a nice bonus.

I do feel like in the future the coaches/trainers/caddies should get some kind of hardware. Maybe a smaller medal?!

Anna & Raven’s Japantastic: Celebration Injuries

Anna & Raven’s Japantastic: Celebration Injuries

Irish Olympic boxer Aidan Walsh did something after winning a bronze medal that cost him the rest of the Olympic games…and truthfully, you probably would have done the exact same thing. How did you injure yourself when you were celebrating?! Catch up with the podcast.

Getting take-out or delivery is one of life’s best small pleasures.  But up to 1/3rd of people out there are ordering take out and not even eating it, for the most ridiculous reason ever!  (:30)

Have you ever celebrated so hard that you actually hurt yourself?  Irish boxer Aidan Walsh secured a bronze medal, but lost a chance at a gold because of his…enthusiastic response.  (2:52)

People always say that focusing on your breathing can help you calm down, but that’s fake right?  Well, according to body-building champion Amy Llinas it’s actually true and she’s here to show Anna and Raven how to do it!   (13:54)

What was the worst thing about your freshman dorm?  From community showers, to sharing an 8×10 room, it’s a rough (but fun) way to live but Purdue University’s new freshman dorms may be the roughest yet!  (17:53)

It’s the Producer Olympics!  While the greatest athletes in the world compete in Tokyo, Producer Jon and Producer Sean compete to find the most interesting person for Anna and Raven to interview!  (29:25)

Ben and Miranda’s 24-year-old son has asked them to co-sign and help with a deposit on a new Bronco. Ben says that he works hard and is on a growth path at work, they should help him.  Miranda says they already help him financially with his rent and this is just enabling him to make bad financial decisions in the future.  Whose side are you on?  (37:21)

Raven is on a roll and the jackpot is up to $1300!  Does Victoria have what it takes to beat him at pop culture trivia and claim the prize?  (45:49)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut is dominating Jeopardy this week

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut is dominating Jeopardy this week

You’ve probably been spending most of your evening TV viewing time watching the Summer Olympics, but if you’ve caught any episodes of Jeopardy lately you may have seen Yale University PhD student Matthew Amodio on his crazy eight-day winning streak. He won again Monday night with a $19,200 payout. Bringing his grand total so far up to $310,400! Tonight (Tuesday) he will try to keep it going with a new Connecticut wrinkle to the action. He will be defending his epic win streak against another Connecticut competitor Christina Leone who is an operation assistant from East Hartford.

Who will win the battle of smartest one in Connecticut?! I will definitely be tuning in to find out.
