TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut Teen Rescues Deer From Water On Fishing Trip

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut Teen Rescues Deer From Water On Fishing Trip

Here’s an animal rescue story that you don’t hear about every day. We have a lot of deer in the northeast but you usually you see them while driving on The Merritt, 95, or in your backyard… but in the water?!

That’s what this 19-year-old Fairfield prep grad came across recently. Eryk Wenziak works for a Norwalk and Stamford charter boat service. He was on a fishing trip with some others when they came across a struggling deer in the water off the coast of Rye, New York. They drove the boat over to the animal and were able to bring it up on the boat, then back to safety in the woods on the mainland. Thankfully the deer seemed okay.

The whole rescue was caught on video. You watch it along with Eryk’s interview with News 12 here

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What exactly is McDonald’s character Grimace?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What exactly is McDonald’s character Grimace?

You might have seen this one trending over the weekend after a McDonald’s manager in Canada did a TV interview.

The interview was about how he won an award for guiding his store through the COVID-19 pandemic and tips and tricks for saving money when ordering. Then it quickly turned to much more interesting convo like what is Grimace?! You know the big purple guy. Is he an animal? A character? A person? Food?

The manager, Brian Bates, said Grimace is actually a taste bud. A fairly large taste bud, but that’s what he is supposed to be. Weird!

Now, there have been conflicting theories over the years that Grimace is actually a big milkshake drop, but I’m going with the taste bud theory. He looks way more like a taste bud to me.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Do animals dream?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Do animals dream?

If you have a dog you’ve probably seen them twitch or react in their sleep which seems to prove that they dream. But do all animals actually have dreams?!

Studies that have been done on rats show that they dream about getting to food or running through mazes. Most mammals on the planet go through “REM sleep”, which is the cycle in which dreams occur for us humans. Therefore scientists think there’s a good chance they all dream because of that.

Let’s just hope they don’t have nightmares.
