The Anna & Raven Producer Olympics

We’ve pinned Producer Jon against Producer Sean all week in Producer tasks, and the winner will take home the gold! Today’s task; make a 30 second commercial for a fake event. The event may be fake, but these commercials will make you wish it was real!

Thursday July 29, 2021: Do You Lie To Your Doctor; Producer Olympics; Anna’s Bathing Habits

If you had $116 just lying around, you would probably spend it right?  Turns out, most people DO have this much money just sitting there, and they don’t ever use it!  (:30)

It’s the Producer Olympics!  While the greatest athletes in the world compete in Tokyo, Producer Jon and Producer Sean compete for the glory of…creating a 30 second commercial.  (3:20)

Are you a fair-weather walker?  Anna has no idea what that means, but Raven says if you are one, that’s all he needs to know about you!  (10:48)

People are grossed out after hearing about Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’s bathing habits!  Everyone except Anna that is, who doesn’t really see what the big deal is!  (14:24)

Have you ever lied to your doctor?  Raven is generally a very honest person, but when it comes to people with a doctorate he lies all the time!  (17:40)

Are you up to date on this week’s crazy news?  Anna has three wild news stories (including one with a grown man in a hamster wheel) and Raven is gonna pick one to discuss!  (25:16)

This years Olympics aren’t just great, they’re Japan-Tastic!  But what do these incredible athletes do for work when they’re not competing?  (29:13)

Lots of people gamble, but would you gamble with money set aside for your child?  Well that’s quite literally what Anna did last weekend!  (32:22)

Jill and Mike are getting married, and Mike think’s his family’s funeral home would be a great place for their reception!  Jill doesn’t care how much money it will save them, she thinks it’s disturbing!  Whose side are you on?  (35:23)

Raven is on a roll and the jackpot is up to $900!  Can Rose take him down, or will the jackpot rise to $1000?  (44:23)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Police helping people with broken tail lights instead of giving tickets

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Police helping people with broken tail lights instead of giving tickets

This has probably happened to you at some point in all the years you’ve been driving. You see the police lights behind you, immediately panic, go through your mental checklist of “what was I doing” realize you were going the speed limit… didn’t blow a stop sign… everything is up to date… “so why are they pulling me over?!” Only to have the officer come up to the window and say “do you know you have a tail light out?” Of course you didn’t. How would you know unless someone told you!

This is technically an offence they can ticket you for. If you’re having an unlucky day you might get one. But drivers in Denver recently have had the opposite happen. Police have been pulling people over with busted tail lights and instead of handing them a ticket/fine… they’re giving them $25 gift cards to an auto parts shop so they can fix it.

What a great move on their part! They should implement this here in Connecticut immediately.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What happens if there is a tie for gold in the Olympics?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What happens if there is a tie for gold in the Olympics?

Keeping with our Olympics theme for Mundane Mysteries today’s question… what happens if there is a tie for gold? This obviously doesn’t happen that often since a lot of the timed events are decided by a tenth of a second, but it does happen. So they have to have a system for it. Which they do.

If two athletes tie for gold (which actually happened in the 2014 Winter Olympics for the Women’s Downhill Ski Final) they both get a gold medal, a silver isn’t given out, and the runner up gets the bronze.

If there is a tie for silver, same idea. First gets gold, second and third get silver. No bronze given out.

If there is a ties for bronze then both get the bronze medal and gold and silver are given out as normal.

I don’t believe there have been any ties in Tokyo yet this year… but now you know what happens if there is one.

Wednesday July 28, 2021: Just Not That Into You; Japan-Tastic; The Producer Olympics!

The Olympics aren’t just great, they’re Japan-tastic!  Today in crazy Olympic news, Anna and Raven talk about why Russia isn’t playing their own national anthem, and what we in the US might use as an alternative anthem!  (3:33)

Everyone has the right to privacy, but if you’re wearing a disguise to make sure nobody knows you got a common medical procedure, that’s all I need to know about you!  (7:32)

The biggest story yesterday was Olympic favorite Simone Biles’s sudden exit from the competition!  Anna and Raven discuss the media fallout and their own thoughts on the situation.  (10:33)

Could faking joy be the secret to true joy?  According to one expert, it could and this Wellness Wednesday Anna decided to learn more! (14:31)

Should people be retested more frequently for their driver’s license?  Anna saw something potentially dangerous in a parking lot the other day, and it’s got her wondering when people should start getting retested!  (18:13)

It’s the Producer Olympics!  While the greatest athletes in the world compete in Tokyo, Producer Jon and Producer Sean compete for the glory of…talking to a disgruntled listener on the phone. (21:47)

Have you ever been dating someone but just gotten that vibe that they’re not that into you?  Anna is afraid that one of her friends is in that situation, and she’s looking for all the key signs that someone just isn’t that into you!  (28:49)

Marie got into a fender-bender, and she wants to borrow her husband Nick’s car while her car is in the shop.  Nick says no way, this is her 4th accident in 6 years!  Whose side are you on?  (35:54)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Former flight attendant will honor 9/11 victims in his own unique way

We are quickly coming up on the 20 year anniversary of 9/11. Crazy that it’s already been TWENTY YEARS since that awful day.

A lot of people will be honoring the victims and paying tribute in their own special ways. This one 62-year-old former flight attendant named Paul Veneto will be doing something really cool. He knew a lot of the crew members who were on the plane that hit the South Tower. Starting next month he will be pushing an airline beverage cart 220 miles. Starting in Boston and ending at Ground Zero in New York City.

You can follow along with his journey and donate at PauliesPush.com

Such a cool idea. Good luck Paul!
