MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are there no billboards in Vermont?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are there no billboards in Vermont?

We have plenty of billboards here in Connecticut. Certain parts of Long Island are billboard free and places like Vermont have zero billboards. Why is that?

Vermont was actually the first of four different states to ban billboards back in 1968. The others are Maine, Hawaii, and Alaska. Instead Vermont uses travel information signs along the state highways to inform and guide visitors and residents. So next time you’re up skiing in Vermont you will now know why you don’t see any billboards.

Raven’s Pleasant Paws Pet Center Pet Pals – Meet Wendy!

Raven’s Pleasant Paws Pet Center Pet Pals – Meet Wendy!

Meet Wendy, an adorable one-year-old, 43 lb. shepherd/terrier mix. Sadly she has not had a great start to her life. She was found abandoned in a deep ditch on the side of the road in rural North Carolina. Despite her past, this girl is always so happy and loves people!

She is a sweet and energetic pup who loves hiking, playing outside, and doing zoomies around the yard. She enjoys a game of fetch, tug-of-war, or chewing on a bone. When she’s not busy
having fun, Wendy is a cuddly love-bug who just wants to be next to her person. She’s the best of both worlds!

She knows “sit,” is food motivated, walks well on a leash, and is both house and crate trained. She’s a great listener and a very trainable dog. She is not much of a barker, even when passing other
people and animals while on walks. Wendy is good with other pups, would be fine with children, and will make a wonderful family dog! You must have a fenced yard to be considered for her adoption.

Wendy is up to date on vaccines, micro chipped, heart worm negative, and spayed. If you are interested in meeting or adopting this gorgeous girl, please visit www.happilyfureverafter.org/adopt
or email [email protected].

Thursday, June 3, 2021: PDA Protocol; Are You Cheap?; Raven Picks ‘Em

Isn’t it such a relief not having to wear a mask anymore?  Well, yes, but it’s also causing a new kind of anxiety for Anna…(:30)

Being in new relationship is an exciting feeling.  But Anna thought the couple at the table next to her’s last night was taking it way too far! (3:16)

Having a strong sense of faith is a wonderful thing, but if you’ve resorted to stealing religious items from stores, that’s all I need to know about you!  (10:19)

What makes you cheap?  Anna and and Raven consider themselves frugal, but some of the things they “save” money on are straight up cheap!  (14:08)

Can you think like a stranger?  Anna and Raven ask 5 random questions, and if your answers match a random stranger’s answers, you win an Amazon Echo!  (23:48)

It’s time to play Raven Picks ‘Em!  Anna picks three crazy news stories from this week, and Raven picks one to talk about!  One of the stories involves a crazy battle of man vs. nature!  (27:34)

Do you carry cash with you?  Anna discovered that there is actually a recommended amount of cash that a person should have on them at all times, and she couldn’t believe how much it was!  (30:45)

Maura and BJ have been dating for two years, but Maura is jealous of BJ’s Mom’s relationship with his ex-girlfriend!  BJ says she needs to relax, she doesn’t know the whole story.  Whose side are you on?  (34:45)

Amanda has a shot at $300!  Can she beat Raven at pop culture trivia and win the prize?  (44:30)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A Graduation Story That Will Give You All The Feels

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A Graduation Story That Will Give You All The Feels

It’s gradation season. Time for parties, diplomas, and throwing caps in the year to celebrate the class of 2021. It’s also time for feel good stories that show some things a just a little more important than walking across the stage.

A grandmother in New Jersey tragically broke her hip two days before she was supposed to fly to Minnesota to watch her granddaughter’s graduation.  When her granddaughter heard the news she decided to get on a plane and fly to New Jersey. She showed up in the hospital room in her cap and gown to surprise her grandmother so she could see her in person. What a wonderful thing to do.

Congrats to all the grads this season!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What makes a show or play “off-Broadway”?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What makes a show or play “off-Broadway”?

Broadway has announced that shows will be coming back this September which is very exciting. I always thought the difference between Broadway and Off-Broadway shows was the location, turns out it’s not. It’s all based on the the size of the theater actually.

Anything 500 seats is considered Broadway. 100 to 499 seats is “Off-Broadway” . And then there is a third tier I had no idea about which is 99 seats or less called “Off-Off-Broadway.”

Can’t wait to get back and see some shows this fall in NYC. On, off, or off-off.
