TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 83-year-old grandmother is keeping people entertained on her Facebook page

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 83-year-old grandmother is keeping people entertained on her Facebook page

Ever since the pandemic started people have picked up a lot of skills they never had before. Whether it’s cooking, doing your own podcast, arts and crafts, or starting a viral book reading club on Facebook.

An 83-year-old grandmother in Iowa who goes by the name “Grandma Bette” has done exactly that. She reads children’s books on her Facebook page every night. She started doing it for fun back in April and ever since it has grown to almost  3,000 people following her page watching and listening to her read. So fun!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the phrase “read the tea leaves” come from?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the phrase “read the tea leaves” come from?

I caught myself saying this the other day and thought it would be a good mystery for today.

“Read the tea leaves” means to use signs or signals to predict something that’s going to happen in the near future. It all started with the fortune telling community. Fortune tellers would use actual tea leave patterns at the bottom of a cup when the tea was gone to try and predict the future. Then the phrase just stuck ever since.

Raiding Raven’s Car!

What do you do in your car that you think most people don’t do? Raven says his car is so cluttered that he doesn’t have the space to do anything besides drive and Producer Sean can’t believe it. Sean wanted to see how dirty it was for himself, so Raven sent him down to raid his car! Is it as bad as Raven claims it is!?

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 10-year-old girl from Milford has the best celebrity encounter ever

Seeing celebrities out in public is always a rush and so exciting. It’s been harder lately with the masks because you can’t really recognize ANYONE. But that didn’t stop 10-year-old Mia from Milford from spotting one of the most popular celebs every… a Ghostbuster!

If I were to pick one celebrity to have a run in with and get a photo it would be Bill Murray. All the stories of people meeting him are always nothing but good and positive experiences and this one was no different.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is the Karma Line and why is it called that?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is the Karma Line and why is it called that?

Unless you’ve been living under a cardboard Amazon package lately you probably saw that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos successfully traveled to space and back this morning in just 11 minutes. He brought his brother and two others with him as they became the first human civilians to actually get into outer space by crossing the “Karman Line”. What exactly is the Karman line you ask?

The Kármán line was named after the Hungarian American engineer and physicist named Theodore von Kármán, who was very active in aeronautics and astronautics back in the 1800s.

The Kármán line is the point where outer space technically starts. It’s about 62 miles above sea level. Everything above it is space, everything below it, not space. it’s important to have for the purposes of space treaties, aerospace record keeping, and billionaires flying their rockets into space.
