TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Will Smith Saves The Day On 4th of July… Again?

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Will Smith Saves The Day On 4th of July… Again?

If you understood that headline than I applaud you and the fact that your Independence Day fandom is as strong as mine.

This story is the best thing I will see all day. New Orleans wasn’t going to have a 4th of July fireworks display this year due to lack of funds.  People forget that fireworks shows, especially the big ones cities put on, are REALLY expensive. When Will Smith of all people caught wind of this news he decided to do something about it. No, he didn’t shoot down any alien spaceships with Jeff Goldblum this time. But he DID step up and donate $100,000 so the city could have their fireworks show as planned.

Now, it’s worth mentioning that he is also currently shooting a movie in New Orleans. This may have been just a big price of admission for Will and his family to see some fireworks on the 4th. But either way, nice job Will Smith. You saved the 4th of July… Again.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is the NBC logo a peacock?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is the NBC logo a peacock?

You’ve seen it a million times when you’re watching NBC. The colorful peacock logo. But what made them pick that? Such a random choice for a TV Network.

Back in 1956 NBC created its peacock logo because peacocks are multicolored.  RCA who owned NBC at the time did this as a sneaky marketing move hoping that seeing a multicolored logo might make people go buy color TVs. Which had just came out and were the new hot item at the time. Then the peacock just stayed ever since.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A lost dog always finds its way back home

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A lost dog always finds its way back home

You’ve probably heard the phrase “a lost dog always finds its way back home” but this story proves it to be true!

If you’re a dog owner you understand how scary fireworks can be for dogs. Last weekend down in South Carolina a dog got spooked by the fireworks and ran off. Her owners were driving around for HOURS looking for her. Turns out they could’ve just stayed home because she managed to find her way back to the house around 3:00 in the morning, when she even rang the doorbell! What a smart pup.

Let this also be a cautionary tale to be careful with your fireworks this weekend. There are a lot of dogs who will be hiding under beds and we don’t want them running away,.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How many hot dogs will be eaten this weekend in America?

Everyone’s favorite hot dog eating holiday is upon us. As you get ready to eat your weight in tubed meat let’s ponder this hot dog mystery shall we?

How many hot dogs will America eat this 4th of July?

According to the National Sausage and Hot Dog Council (NHDSC), (yes, that’s a real organization come to find out) Americans are expected to eat 150 million hot dogs over the next 4 days. This is all part of an estimated 7 billion that are expected to be eaten during the entire 2021 summer season from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

That’s A LOT of dogs. Most of them will be consumed by Joey Chestnut on Sunday in Coney Island. Yum.
