Sara’s Wish Day!

Sara’s Wish Day!

During a time when close to 150 travel wishes have had to be postponed, Make-A Wish Connecticut continues to grant all wishes that are safe to grant. Sara is a music-loving teenager battling cystic fibrosis who loves the water and wishes for a pontoon boat.

After such a stressful year, made even more stressful by her illness, 17-year-old Sara just wants to relax with her family and hang out on the water – something they all love to do. They enjoy paddle boarding and waterskiing together as a family, so her wish for a pontoon boat is just what she and her family need right now.

Sara didn’t know it but today was her Wish Day. She arrived at Jersey Mike’s in Fairfield to thank them for participating in the Month/Day of Giving! Then it was revealed that her Wish was being granted today! After her stop for lunch it was off to Norwalk

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Girl Scout Breaks Cookie Record Selling Over 30,000 Boxes

Girl Scout cookie season is upon us. Yuuuuuum. If you have kids who are Girl Scouts you’ve probably been going door to door, sitting in random retail parking lots, and trying to sell boxes online in your Facebook Mom Group.

Nothing is more heartwarming than when a kid accomplishes something they set out to do. Like this story of an eight-year-old cancer survivor in California who recently crushed a record by selling 32,484 boxes of Girl Scout cookies this year! Her name is Lilly Bumpus.  She sold the boxes outside her house, and online.  The previous record she broke was just over 26,000 boxes.

Nice work Lily!!!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we call money “bucks”?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we call money “bucks”?

“How much does it cost? 20 bucks” you’ve no doubt heard this phrase before. Saying bucks instead of “dollars”. But where does that even come from?

It actually refers to deer skins from male deer, or “bucks” as they are usually called. This is because during the early 1700s, deer skins were used as an informal currency for buying good. Then it just stuck ever since as a slang term.

She still wants people to dress their best in formal-wear. The last thing she wants is people showing up to her tented formal wedding in jeans or a sundress. He says you can’t tell people what to wear regardless of if it’s at the venue or in a tent. Can you tell your guests what to wear to your wedding?  (36:47)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Guys Spends $4,000 On Coffee For Random Strangers

Everyone loves free coffee. Especially when someone is going out of their way to pay it forward and buy for others.

This story happened at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Ohio. Some guy walked in and bought $4,000 worth of gift cards then told the staff to use the cards to pay for random people’s orders until they ran out.  Customers were treated to free food or coffee from 4:00 P.M. until around 9:00 A.M. the next day. Every single person.

Incredible!
