Monday April 19, 2021: Cliché Conversations; Royal Funeral Mask; Weirdest Date Ever

Life may be getting back to normal, but that doesn’t mean we don’t need some help cheering up every once in a while.  Anna and Raven start your day off with the top 6 things that make you the happiest!  Anna’s not sure this list really applies to her though…  (:30)

Prince Phillip’s funeral was this weekend, so Anna and Raven decided to send the Queen a black Anna and Raven mask to wear at the service.  Obviously she didn’t do that, but for a moment Anna thought she saw another royal wearing it!  (2:54)

Do you have an annoying habit that you do while you’re working?  One caller says that if you do THIS while they are trying to work, then that’s all they need to know about you!  (6:54)

Do you ever feel like you’re having the same conversation with everyone you run into on Monday mornings?  Cliché conversations are hard to avoid, but Anna and Raven will help you out by giving you the breakdown on the three things everybody is gonna be talking about at work today!  (10:20)

What’s the best thing that happened to you this weekend?  What about the worst?  Anna and Raven want to hear about both!  Anna felt like this weekend was the first “normal” weekend in a long time, and it felt great!  This is, until her youngest daughter decided to do something gross in the bathroom…. (14:16)

How many times have you been a groomsman or bridesmaid?  Anna has been a bridesmaid at least 7 times, and she’s currently her friend’s Maid of Honor!  But as she was planning the bridesmaid dresses and bachelorette party, something suddenly made her think that she may be too old for it…  (20:17)

What’s the weirdest thing that ever happened to you on a date?  Anna once went to a guy’s apartment and found out he had a collection of samurai swords!  One caller went on date with a guy, and everything seemed great, until she realized who they were having dinner with…(26:43)

Couples Court: Lisa wants her husband, Ryan, to stop using the snooze button. He hits the snooze button every morning at least twice starting at 4:30am until 5am, and it wakes her up. She thinks it’s obnoxious, it’s one thing to have to set the alarm for that early, but to wake her up multiple times when she normally doesn’t have to wake up until 6:15am is torture! He says she’s being dramatic, just roll over and go back to bed. It’s his ritual, plus, she’s lucky she gets to sleep late for her job every day! Whose side are you on?  (37:45)

Hilary has a chance to win $3000!  Does she have what it takes to beat Raven in pop culture trivia and claim the prize?  (44:24)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Internet Sleuth Saves Stranded Hiker Based On A Single Photo

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Internet Sleuth Saves Stranded Hiker Based On A Single Photo

This story is crazy. If you’re going on a hike this weekend make sure your phone is charged up.

A guy near L.A. went hiking this week and got stranded overnight. First problem, don’t go hiking alone if possible. Anyway, he had texted a photo to a friend of his legs dangling off a rock overlooking a canyon on the trail he was on.  After hours went by he was all the sudden lost and his phone was dying.  So rescuers started searching the area using the photo he had sent in case anyone knew the area.  Then a random guy on the internet named Ben Kuo came to the rescue.

Ben actually has a hobby where he enjoys looking at random photos to see if he can figure out where they were taken.  Perfect man for the job in this situation right?! So Ben began working on the case and figured out the general area, told the cops, and they eventually found the hiker! Nice work, Ben. What a great ending.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do wine bottles have a dent in the bottom?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do wine bottles have a dent in the bottom?

Perfect mystery for a Friday heading into the weekend. Why do wine bottles have that dent in the bottom? It actually has a name too, called a punt. The punt makes the wine bottles stronger when the pressure is put in by the cork. That way, your favorite wine doesn’t explode all over the place. It also doubles as a fancy type handle for servers to hold onto the bottle with their thumb in there while they are pouring you a glass tableside.

Cheers!

Anna & Raven’s Fortune Cookie Friday

Anna & Raven’s Fortune Cookie Friday

Every Friday, Anna & Raven look to a fortune cookie to let them know what their weekend has in store for them. What’s worse though, a bad fortune or a stale cookie? Hopefully they didn’t get either!

Friday, April 16, 2021: Raven’s Report Card; Crazy Funeral Moments; Mommy Margarita Friday

Friday, April 16, 2021: Raven’s Report Card; Crazy Funeral Moments; Mommy Margarita Friday

What do you consider to be “on time”?  Raven is the kind of person who shows up 15 minutes early for everything, and expects you to show up at least 5 minutes early!  But it turns out that other countries have a very different idea of what qualifies as “late”.  It’s a good thing Raven doesn’t live in the Middle East…  (:30)

Every Friday, Raven’s wife Alicia calls in to the show  and gives Raven a grade on how good of a husband he was that week!  Raven has been doing a lot of complaining about his wife this week.  A lot of that complaining was on the air too!  Find out how it affects his grade in the podcast!  (4:15)

What’s craziest thing you’ve ever seen at a funeral?  The world is watching Prince Harry this week to see if any drama happens at his grandfather’s funeral.  But even the epic Oprah interview couldn’t match the insanity that went down between two sisters at their mother’s funeral!  (8:09)

Have you ever heard of busking?  That’s the technical term for being a street performer.  Anna had never heard this term before, and she definitely didn’t realize how much money some street performers make!  (18:03)

The Johnson and Johnson vaccine scare has raised questions with some people about the safety of the vaccines.  So Anna and Raven brought in an expert, infectious disease expert Dr. Rajeev Fernando, who has some insight into the controversy.  (21:54)

Living next to the highway can be noisy, but if you call the town and demand that they do THIS to make it more quiet, that’s all I need to know about you!  (25:25)

What did you do this week to earn your Margarita? Every Friday, Anna gets together with her two friends for happy hour, and talks about all the ways her kids drove her crazy this week!  One caller had to stay up all night because of something that happened with her son and after everything she went through, she definitely deserves a margarita!  (28:07)

Couples Court: Dominque and Mark bought a new house and Dominque wants to borrow from their 401K to buy new furniture and to fix some things. Because of Covid, you don’t have to pay a tax penalty, so she thinks it’s the perfect time. He says that money is just for retirement, and they shouldn’t touch it. What if there’s an emergency in the future and they need it? Whose side are you on?  (35:01)

Elizabeth thinks she’s got what it takes to win $2900!  Can she beat Raven in pop culture trivia, or will the jackpot go all the way up to 3K?  (43:17)
