TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Exciting News For One of America’s Most Endangered Species

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Exciting News For One of America’s Most Endangered Species

For years now America’s national bird, the bald eagle, has been heading toward extinction. But now that seems to have all changed!

A new report from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says there are now over 316,000 bald eagles in the lower 48 states.  That’s four times what it was just 12 years ago! How crazy is that?

Fly on, bald eagles. Your time is now.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What are Peeps actually made of?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What are Peeps actually made of?

With Easter coming up next weekend it seems like a good time to investigate what is in one of the most popular Easter candy treats… Peeps.

Personally I’m not that big a fan of Peeps. But I’ve always been intrigued by what they’re made out of. Lucky for you I found out!

This is the description from Vox.com:

In their traditional form, Peeps are shaped like baby chickens and made of a soft marshmallow rolled in colored sugar, with eyes made of edible wax. They are typically sold in packs of five conjoined marshmallows. One serving of Peeps (five pieces) contains 140 calories, no fat, and 34 grams of sugar, which makes sense since their two main ingredients are sugar and corn syrup. Peeps also contain gelatin, which makes them unsuitable for vegans.

And here is the ingredients list from their website: SUGAR, CORN SYRUP, GELATIN, CONTAINS LESS THAN 0.5% OF THE FOLLOWING: POTASSIUM SORBATE (A PRESERVATIVE), NATURAL FLAVORS, BLUE #1, CARNAUBA WAX

I’m still not a fan but at least I now know what they’re made of.

Greg and Natalie recently moved into a new home and she would like to send out a “We Moved” announcement, but she would like to add a link to a registry where people can buy them gifts for their new home. TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Couple Recreates Wedding Photos On 50th Anniversary

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Couple Recreates Wedding Photos On 50th Anniversary

What a great idea. This couple in Iowa decided to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in a really fun way. By retaking their wedding photos in the same church they were married in back in 1971.

The bride even wore her same wedding dress from that day. And the groom found a similar looking suit. They posed the same way and everything. This is definitely an idea I might have to steal for when my wife and I get to our 50th. 47 years to go!

See all the photos here.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Are babies really born without kneecaps?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Are babies really born without kneecaps?

Ever since I became a father two years ago I’ve heard this from people. That babies don’t have kneecaps when they are born.

This is only half true it turns out. Babies do technically have kneecaps when they are born, the knees just haven’t hardened yet. They actually remain as soft cartilage during childhood until they grow up and it turns into bone.
