TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Customers Rally To Save Family’s Stolen Pizza Truck

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Customers Rally To Save Family’s Stolen Pizza Truck

With today (2/9) being National Pizza Day I figured I would make today’s story pizza related.

This couple down in Tampa, FL run their own mobile pizza kitchen and almost had to shut down after someone stole their pizza truck back in November. Can you believe that?! I’m sure they were already struggling from a business standpoint because of the pandemic and now someone steals their whole operation right out from under them. Awful. Luckily their loyal customers came to the rescue and raised over $11,000 online to help buy them a new truck.

You’ve got to love pizza people. Always looking out for one another.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do pizza chef’s toss the dough in the air?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do pizza chef’s toss the dough in the air?

Today (2/9) is National Pizza Day! If you know me at all you know as a lover of all things pizza that I’m very excited about this. Today’s mystery is about the actual making of a pizza. Why do the pizza chef’s always toss the dough up in the air?

Despite what you might think it’s not just for show. Even though it does look pretty cool when they do it. It’s actually the best way to evenly spread out the dough before you make the pizza. It creates a uniform crust and also helps the dough retain moisture.

While it is a practical technique to making the pizza, it is also still celebrated. Dough-spinning has its own professional event where all different teams of pizza lovers compete in acrobatic dough-spinning competitions every year at the World Pizza Championships. How fun is that?!

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Losing Team’s Merchandise From The Super Bowl Goes To A Great Cause

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Losing Team’s Merchandise From The Super Bowl Goes To A Great Cause

Every year the NFL has to make merchandise for both teams playing in the Super Bowl so the winning team can have their shirts and hats right away and all the product can be on sale for fans. I’ve always heard the rumor that the losing team’s product gets sent to people in need so it doesn’t go to waste. Turns out that is true!

There is a charitable organization based out of Virginia called Good360 who does all the distributing to those in need overseas. It’s usually shirts, hats and sweatshirts. Luckily the coronavirus pandemic won’t affect the process this year either. In fact, it might actually help even more than year’s past since there are branded face masks as part of the items donated.

Good to know there will be people getting helped, even if they think the Chiefs are the Super Bowl champs.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How does quicksand form?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How does quicksand form?

You may have seen this crazy story last week in Milford where two women noticed some quicksand as they were walking on Walnut Beach.

That got me thinking, how does quicksand even form?

via wikipedia:

Quicksand is a colloid consisting of fine granular material (such as sand, silt or clay) and water. Quicksand forms in saturated loose sand when the sand is suddenly agitated. When water in the sand cannot escape, it creates a liquefied soil that loses strength and cannot support weight.
