TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Texas Furniture Store Owner Opens His Doors To Help People During Crazy Winter Weather

What’s happening in Texas right now with this crazy winter weather and power outages is so very sad. Luckily there are good people willing to open their doors and help their fellow Texans.

In Houston one store owner who runs a place called Gallery Furniture is letting people stay overnight to get out of the cold.  He goes by the amazing nickname “Mattress Mack,” and he’s actually known for doing good things like this in the past.  He did the exact same thing using his stores as shelters after Hurricane Harvey hit the area hard back in 2017.  Then the same year, he served Thanksgiving dinner to 5,000 people.

It’s obvious that Mattress Mack is just an all around good person. Snow storms, hurricanes, power outage, doesn’t matter. He’s always willing to help. Love it.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How big can a snowflake actually get?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How big can a snowflake actually get?

With the snow falling outside I figured this is a good time to figure out how big the biggest snowflake ever was.

According to our trusty old friends at Guinness World Records, the largest snowflake on record was measured as 15 inches in diameter and 8 inches thick. Wait, WHAT?! That’s insane. Apparently these flakes fell at Fort Keogh in eastern Montana back in January of 1887. That’s a looooooong time ago so I guess take those measurements with a grain of salt.

Safe to say I haven’t seen any snowflakes here in Connecticut that big… YET!

The snow in Texas is getting extreme, but for Anna’s niece and nephew in Dallas, it’s a dream come true!  The only problem is, they don’t have a sled!  What did you use as a sled when you were a kid?  Raven’s idea seems like it would be fast and fun, but also potentially cause massive property damage!  (19:46)

Then a week later she called to see if he could get a bird out of the chimney. This week she called because her washing machine wasn’t working, and she didn’t know what to do. Brenda says no more, tell her to call a handyman. He says that he’s being neighborly plus, after the divorce he offered to help if she needed it. MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What do the numbers mean in Motel 6 and Super 8?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What do the numbers mean in Motel 6 and Super 8?

You’ve probably driven be a Motel 6 or Super 8 a million times here in Connecticut and thought to yourself the same thing I do. What do the numbers mean?!

Both places got their names from the original prices of the rooms. Motel 6 started at $6 in 1962, and Super 8 at $8.88 in 1974.

Now in 2021 it’s like $80 for a Motel 6 room. I just looked it up. They should have to change the number each time the price goes up. “Hi yes, Motel 80 I’d like a room for this weekend”
