TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Five Year Old Girl Empties Her Piggy Bank To Help Others

One of the things that has been heartwarming during this whole pandemic is the amount of good kids have been doing on their own.

This one five-year-old girl spent two weeks making 200 “Happy New Year” cards for people at a nursing home near where she lives in New York.  Her mom says she was worried they were lonely, and came up with the idea herself.  She wanted to buy all gifts too so she emptied out her piggy bank and used that money to do it. Love that.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut Ranks Among Top 10 States In The Country To Raise A Family

Usually when I see Connecticut in a headline for one of these lists I get nervous that it’s going to be for something bad. But this is a good one!

According to this article from Wallethub, Connecticut was ranked the 9th best state in the country to raise a family. They based this on a few different things. Affordability, education and child care, heath and safety, and family fun. We have so much family fun in Connecticut!

Even our neighbor states New York and New Jersey made the top 10. New York at #4, New Jersey at #7. Connecticut was also named the third state with the fewest violent crimes per capita.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are cows spotted?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are cows spotted?

There are a lot of different theories on this but one study suggest that the dark and light spots on a cow’s coat of hair is actually to confuse the vision of horseflies.

The spots somehow change how the polarized light is reflected and stops the flies from landing on the cow. What a cool defense mechanism. Nature FTW!
