I’m not sure if this woman was inspired by binge watching Tiger King or just loves zoo’s and stuffed animals. Either way it’s a great story for today’s Tell Me Something Good.
Nancy Connor is an 86-year-old woman who lives in Pawtucket Rhode Island. She wanted to do something to cheer people up. So she used her stimulus money to create a zoo for stuffed animals outside her house, and it’s become a big hit with kids in the neighborhood.
She told the WJAR, the local TV news station, “I went through World War II which was tough but it’s nothing like what’s happening now everything is so sad. “People are walking up and down the street looking very sad and I thought well what can I do? I’m handicapped. I can’t go out there and do anything, but people love animals.”
Here’s the link to full story if you want to see video and photos of her front yard makeshift zoo. Pretty neat.

Jennifer tried her best against Raven but just couldn’t get the victory. The jackpot climbs to $400!
There has been a lot of virtual graduations lately as a result of all the social distancing guidelines. Which has made for some pretty special, memorable moments for the class of 2020.
Portland State University graduate Madisen Hallberg was pre-recording the national anthem for her virtual graduation. In the middle of the performance a stranger showed up and asked if he could join her. That stranger turned out to be Emmanuel Henreid. He’s a classically trained singer who performs with the Portland Opera. What a truly amazing moment.
When Madison was asked about what happened she said ““Looking back, I’m so glad that people are touched by what happened. I think it’s important to spread positivity and hope for the future, and I think that’s what two people coming together to sing the anthem can do.”

I love this story on so many levels.
A lawyer in New Zealand gave all 14 of her employees an extra $1,000, and told them to take a weekend trip somewhere. All she asked was that they spend ALL of it at small businesses. What a great way to help the people that work for you and other business all at the same time in a creative way. This is what Tell Me Something Good is all about!
