The excitement has set in.  Week 38 has somehow creeped up on me.  I remember early in my pregnancy thinking that if I could just make it to November it would be smooth sailing.  October is notoriously the busiest month for me both work wise and at home with my family obligations.  I can finally say that unless we have any surprises this baby will be here next week.  Next week! I have all the emotions of excitement, fear, doubt, and everything that goes along with it.  I looked at my husband a couple days ago and said “Are we really doing this?”.  He, of course, reminded me that it’s way too late to have that conversation.  I just can’t wait to see her face, smell her baby smell, hold her in my arms.  I imagine her looking exactly like my daughter Hayden but I wonder what her personality will be like.  Will she be serious and super smart like my husband? Will she be a nut case and spontaneous like me?  I hope she will have her sister’s kind heart and ability to make friends easily.  I also have irrational fears like walking down the hall at work and having a baby in the hallway.  Dr. Coca at Stamford Health has assured me that this baby won’t just happen to fall out, so I’m holding her to that! The funny part is that my daughter Hayden was induced (I swear she would still be in there if we didn’t evict her) so I have no idea what it’s like to go into labor on my own.  Every pain I feel I question whether it’s just false labor, gas, or the baby kicking.  My mom swears that “I’ll just know” when it’s the real thing, but I’ll avoid burritos until after I deliver.  Just in case.
