MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we call traditional pizza “Margherita”?

Today’s mystery is pizza related. Why do we call the traditional style a “Margherita” pizza? There’s no tequila in it or anything, so why that term?

It started back in the birthplace of pizza in the 1800s, Italy! The chef who invented a dish called ”Pizza Margherita,” did it to honor the Queen of Italy, The Margharita of Savoy.

Another fun fact about it is that he made the toppings tomato(red), mozzarella (white) and basil (green), to represent all the colors of its national flag. How cool is that?!
