MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What species is Yoda? And is he considered a Muppet?

Happy Star Wars Day! As you’ve probably seen plastered all over your social feeds by now… it’s May 4th. Get it? “May the 4th be with you”.

So I figured we would make today’s Mundane Mystery Star Wars related. What species is Yoda and is he considered a Muppet?

That first part about what species he is has actually never been explained in any of the movies. As Yoda would say… “A mystery, it is”

As for the second question I’ve heard this a lot. People thinking that Yoda falls under the Muppet category because Frank Oz who was a legendary Muppeteer voiced Yoda. Despite Jim Henson overseeing the creation of the character he never actually had any involvement in building Yoda. That was all George Lucas and his staff at Lucasfilm. Therefore, Yoda… technically not a Muppet.
