MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are carnations the most popular flower for Mother’s Day?

Let’s be honest, Mom would probably enjoy any kind of flower you get her but for some reason carnations are always the most popular. Why is that?

A woman named Anna Jarvis created Mother’s Day in the early 1900s and at the time she was pushing for President Woodrow Wilson to declare Mother’s Day an official holiday. This started the trend of wearing a carnation to honor all the mothers. Over the years it became tradition to get red or pink carnations as a nice gift to celebrate your mom.

Hear that Dads… now you know why you’re buying those beautiful looking carnations this weekend.
