TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Ice Cream is about to get a lot safer for kids starting October 1st

It might just be my memory but I always feel like there were so many more ice cream trucks when I was a kid. Every night after dinner you’d hear the music all the time. Feels like there are a lot less nowadays.

Either way, starting October 1 there are a whole bunch of new laws going into effect here in Connecticut. One of them involving ice cream trucks.

This new law will require drivers passing ice cream trucks in the process of selling ice cream to stop and proceed slowly. Almost like school busses. The law will also implement safety equipment requirements and operating rules for the ice cream trucks. This all comes under something called “Tristan’s Law,” which was named after a 10-year-old Connecticut boy who was killed by a car while trying to buy from an Ice Cream in June 2020. Very sad story, but will ensure the safety of kids in the future.

Next time you see an ice cream truck, proceed with caution.
