I feel like the phrase “Home for the Holidays” is a bit overused this time of year… unless it’s a story like this one. Which makes it feel more powerful and emotional than ever.
Get ready because if you’re like me you will no doubt shed a few tears…
An Army soldier from here in Connecticut named Shanice Smith hadn’t seen her family in two years. Think about all that’s happened in the last two years with Covid and eveything. Can you imagine being away from loved ones for that long?!
Last week for Thanksgiving she returned home to Meriden from where she was stationed in Kuwait. She surprised her mom and grandma which just led to all the tears. Including mine. Here’s the video, via FOX61, of how it all happened:
