MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did Gatorade get its name?

There are two kinds of people who consume the majority of Gatorade. Athletes on sidelines and people who are extremely hungover. Where did this recovery drink get it’s name anyway?

Gatorade was invented at the University of Florida in 1965. So naturally they named  it after the mascot of the school, the Gators.

The most interesting part… The University actually gets 20% of all the profits from sales of the beverage.
