MUNDANE MYSTERIES: The one crazy thing that makes peppers taste hot

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: The one crazy thing that makes peppers taste hot

Anytime you eat a hot pepper. Jalapeno, habanero, ghost pepper, etc… you get an immediate feeling of heat in your mouth. But what causes that?

It’s a chemical compound in the pepper called capsaicin. Which basically triggers the receptors in your mouth and tongue to tell your brain “something is on fire”.

I’ll be thinking of this tonight when I’m eating my guacamole with jalapenos for Taco Tuesday.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Person survives scary vacation moment thanks to a famous movie

No one ever wants to be stranded at sea. Especially during VACATION! But that’s what happened to a tourist in Greece recently.

They were on the water for 18 HOURS! With nothing but a volleyball which kept them afloat. Which of course now everyone is comparing to Cast Away the famous Tom Hanks movie. Proving once again that you should always pay attention during movies. It could save your life.

Most people believe that they are better drivers than their spouse, so we thought it would be fun to share what our spouses do in a car that drives us crazy…

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are there 52 cards in a deck of playing cards?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are there 52 cards in a deck of playing cards?

You’ve played with them for your whole life and every time you shuffle before a game of solitaire or Go Fish you probably wonder “why 52?”

There are a lot of theories online as to why that random number, but the most common one amongst history buffs seems to be that they are supposed to represent the 52 “weeks” of the year.

Then it goes even deeper… each suit (hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs) represent the four season of the year, and then the thirteen cards in the suit are the thirteen lunar cycles.

Crazy!
