TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: This one school’s graduation surprise will either make you really jealous or happy

Graduation season is upon us. All across the country students are walking the stage, grabbing their diploma, and venturing into the “real world” with the rest of us. Hoping to find a job that will allow them to pay off those loans as quickly as possible.

Unless you’re a student at Wiley College in east Texas…

During their graduation ceremony last Saturday the school’s president came out at the end to make a special surprise announcement. Every graduate’s student loans had all been PAID OFF completely. Wait, what?!  Yep. A donor who chose to remain anonymous put up $300,000 of their own money to make it happen for the kids.

Unreal! And very thoughtful. Life changing even.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How often do you REALLY need to change your car’s oil?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How often do you REALLY need to change your car’s oil?

Ever since I’ve been driving a car I’ve always heard you should change your oil every 3,000 miles. But now some people say that’s a myth. Both things are kind of true.

The 3,000 mile thing used to be the case with older model cars. But now that technology has improved and cars are much newer most new cars can go about 7500 miles before needing to change the oil. Certain manufacturers like Ford, Volkswagen, Porsche, and certain Toyota engines are built for for even longer… about 10,000 miles. And BMW engines can actually run on the same oil for 15,000 miles!

Crazy.

A Fit Bit can be a useful tool for getting into shape, but apparently it can also be used to help solve a murder!  (5:52)

Peaceful protest can be an effective strategy to change a policy you’re upset about, but one Hollywood actor may have gone a bit overboard with his protest in a Starbucks…  (9:49)

Have you ever had a pet you regret?  Anna’s toddler wants a new pet, but Anna thinks it’s a bad idea, so she and her husband came up with a plan to keep their daughter happy and pet-free…  (12:55)

Anna’s got three crazy news stories and Raven is gonna pick one to talk about!  Today his options are; a gender reveal party gone wrong, a man protests Taco Bell by exercising and two people hospitalized over a donut. (28:17)

When Kelly attended her six-year-old daughter’s parent/teacher conference, she fibbed and said that she and her daughter read every night for thirty minutes. The teacher suggested a reading tutor since their daughter was falling behind. Kelly’s husband, Eddie, is upset that Kelly lied to the teacher about reading every night and thinks she should email the teacher and fess up. What do you think?  (31:24)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Doorbell camera saves family’s home from fire

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Doorbell camera saves family’s home from fire

Technology has done some amazing things over the years. Sometimes it even can save people from harm.

Like this story in Nebraska recently. A teenager was home alone when the family’s doorbell camera picked up some motion from a wildfire that had started across the street. It was picking up the smoke in the air. The kid’s mom called him because she had got an alert from the camera. He was able to call 911 getting the fire department to came to put out the fire saving the house and neighborhood.

Unbelievable!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: When an Astronaut is in space does their height change?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: When an Astronaut is in space does their height change?

I’ve always wondered this. With all of the gravity up in space and everything going on is there any truth to the fact that it changes the height of astronauts?

It is! People can grow about 3% taller while in space. For the average six foot tall person that’s about two inches. Once they get back down to earth it takes a few MONTHS for gravity to pull them back to their normal height.
