Graduation season is upon us. All across the country students are walking the stage, grabbing their diploma, and venturing into the “real world” with the rest of us. Hoping to find a job that will allow them to pay off those loans as quickly as possible.
Unless you’re a student at Wiley College in east Texas…
During their graduation ceremony last Saturday the school’s president came out at the end to make a special surprise announcement. Every graduate’s student loans had all been PAID OFF completely. Wait, what?! Yep. A donor who chose to remain anonymous put up $300,000 of their own money to make it happen for the kids.
Ever since I’ve been driving a car I’ve always heard you should change your oil every 3,000 miles. But now some people say that’s a myth. Both things are kind of true.
The 3,000 mile thing used to be the case with older model cars. But now that technology has improved and cars are much newer most new cars can go about 7500 miles before needing to change the oil. Certain manufacturers like Ford, Volkswagen, Porsche, and certain Toyota engines are built for for even longer… about 10,000 miles. And BMW engines can actually run on the same oil for 15,000 miles!

Technology has done some amazing things over the years. Sometimes it even can save people from harm.
Like this story in Nebraska recently. A teenager was home alone when the family’s doorbell camera picked up some motion from a wildfire that had started across the street. It was picking up the smoke in the air. The kid’s mom called him because she had got an alert from the camera. He was able to call 911 getting the fire department to came to put out the fire saving the house and neighborhood.
I’ve always wondered this. With all of the gravity up in space and everything going on is there any truth to the fact that it changes the height of astronauts?
It is! People can grow about 3% taller while in space. For the average six foot tall person that’s about two inches. Once they get back down to earth it takes a few MONTHS for gravity to pull them back to their normal height.
