TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Inspiring story of WWII vet who finally achieved a goal he set 80 years ago

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Inspiring story of WWII vet who finally achieved a goal he set 80 years ago

A lot of people take graduating from high school for granted. It’s always good to remember how important that diploma is even if it takes you decades to finally get it.

This 98-year-old World War Two vet from Texas named Donald Huisenga just got his high school diploma 80 years after he was supposed to graduate.

Donald was drafted to the war in 1943 as a high school senior. This caused him to miss graduation as he instead parachuted into Normandy fighting day. He fought for our country until he got blown back 30 feet and wounded. He spent time as a prisoner of war before finally making it home safe and alive.

He has overcome so much in his life most recently being a battle of COVID-19. But now he can finally say he’s a high school grad. His family and friends threw him a party and everything. He says it was something he never thought would happen.

Congrats Donald! And the lesson here for all of us… never give up on your goals.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with the idea for bubble wrap anyway?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with the idea for bubble wrap anyway?

We use it all the time. To ship things, wrap valuables in, or just as a fun time waster popping those bubbles… bubble wrap! But who thought of it in the first place?

Back in the 50s two engineers were trying to design textured wallpaper so they glued two shower curtains together trapping tiny bubbles of air in between them. The product never took off so they scrapped it. A few year’s later they tried to make it into greenhouse insulation. That didn’t sell either. Then in 1960 IBM needed something to ship computer parts so they wouldn’t break during the delivery process… finally a use for their invention!

The rest is history…. bubble wrap was born.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Guy who driving 100 mph gets pulled over, but has great excuse

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Guy who driving 100 mph gets pulled over, but has great excuse

Not every person who gets pulled over for speeding is doing it for a bad reason.

Like this guy in Massachusetts last week who was pulled over by police for doing 100 mph. When the officer walked up to the car he quickly realized why he was going so fast. The guy’s girlfriend was in the passenger seat going into LABOR!!

The police officer immediately told the woman to get in his patrol car and he drover her to the hospital, sirens, lights and everything. The guy followed along in his car.

They all made to the hospital in time, and now they couple has a healthy baby boy.

Not sure if he still got a speeding ticket… hopefully not.
