TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Two students save their bus driver’s life

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Two students save their bus driver’s life

You just never know when you’re going to need someone to save your life.

This story happened down in Georgia. Two middle schoolers managed to save their bus driver’s life earlier this month. While they were on the bus the students noticed she was having a medical emergency up in the driver’s seat and managed to help her pull the bus over. They got on the bus radio and talked to dispatch to get help. Using some quick thinking they also thought to pull the emergency brake so the bus wouldn’t roll.

The bus driver is now doing okay and is back home recovering.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with the “Spirit Halloween” pop-up store idea?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with the “Spirit Halloween” pop-up store idea?

We are right in the time of year where you see the Spirit Halloween stores pop up all over the place in abandoned store fronts.

The idea was founded by a guy named Joe Marver who launched the first Spirit Halloween store back in 1983. The “spirit” in Spirit Halloween doesn’t actually refer to ghosts or anything Halloween related though. He called the stores Spirit Halloween as a riff on his original business, which was called Spirit Women’s Discount Apparel.

Happy Halloween shopping!

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: CEO of Spanx surprises employees with incredible gift (No, it’s not a pair of Spanx)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: CEO of Spanx surprises employees with incredible gift (No, it’s not a pair of Spanx)

WARNING: This story might make you want to quit and change jobs immediately.

Sara Blakely who’s the founder and CEO of the shapewear company Spanx just sold her majority stake in the company to a big investment firm for $1.2 billion. Yes, billion with a B. To celebrate she decided to share the love with her 500 employees by giving each of them two first-class tickets to any destination in the world, along with $10,000 in spending money.  Crazy! I’m guessing there is a stipulation where they can’t all go at the same time. Do you think she threw in any Spanx too?

Either way, what an unbelievably nice thing to do.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who is Reese from Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who is Reese from Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups?

One of the most popular Halloween treats, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Millions are given out and consumed every year. But if you haven’t noticed before there is an apostrophe on Reese. Meaning they were named after someone. But who?!

The candy was created back in 1928 by Harry Burnett Reese who was a former employee of the Hershey Chocolate company.  The Lizzie Bar and Johnny Bar were the first candy bars he created and named after his daughter and son. But when he came up with this chocolate-covered peanut butter cup creation he decided this one would be named after himself naming it… the now famous “Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups”.

Thank you Harry Burnett Reese for your delicious creation.
