TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: High School Principal Gives Seniors The Most Thoughtful Gift Ever

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: High School Principal Gives Seniors The Most Thoughtful Gift Ever

It’s still graduation season and the good stories keep rolling in from seniors. This one is from a school in Palm Coast, Florida.

A principal named Jeff Reaves is starting to go viral after he wrote 459 personalized notes. One for every graduating senior at his high school.  He walked around and left them on the kid’s seats before they got their diploma at graduation. What a thoughtful idea as a sendoff to the graduating class. That’s the type of person you want as your principal. His hand must have been hurting after writing all those, but it’s totally worth it. The handwritten note is a lost art and we should bring it back like he did.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What does SPF stand for? How do they come up with the number?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What does SPF stand for? How do they come up with the number?

Summer is officially here and I hope you’re using the correct SPF sunscreen. But what does SPF stand for? And how do they come up with the number?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, and the number beside it tell you how well the sunscreen protects your skin against sunburn. But there is a very specific formula they use to determine which SPF is for you.

Here is how it’s explained:  The number of seconds it takes a patch of skin to slightly redden when covered in sunscreen is divided by the number of seconds it takes to slightly redden when there is no sunscreen applied. Say it took 300 seconds for skin to burn with sunscreen, and 10 seconds to burn without it. 300 is divided by 10, which is 30. The SPF is 30.

Interesting! I’m usually an SPF 50 or higher. Have to keep these sunburns away.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family gets reunited with dog after more than a decade

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family gets reunited with dog after more than a decade

If you’re a dog lover or animal person this story is sure to make your heart melt.

A family over in England just got their dog back after it disappeared from their yard as a puppy 11 YEARS AGO! Someone had found it on the street when it went missing. They brought it to a vet who scanned its microchip. That’s how they were able to eventually track it back to the owners. Its name is Crumpet, and they family still doesn’t know whether the dog was stolen 11 years ago or just walked off and got lost. Either way they’re just glad to have their dog back safe and sound. Even if it’s more than a decade later.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Hot water freezes faster than cold water. Why?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Hot water freezes faster than cold water. Why?

This doesn’t make any sense in my head but science proves it to be true. Hot water does in fact freeze faster than cold water. Here’s why…

It’s something called the Mpemba Effect. The theory behind it is that the molecules in hot water are more stretched out, which allows them to release energy faster and freeze quicker. Science!

I may have to try it to test out this theory when I get home.
